Thunder's 12th Season Tips Off Friday

Oklahoma City, Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 – The Oklahoma City Thunder will enter its 12th season on Friday with a night to remember and something for every fan. The game against the Washington Wizards will get underway at 7 p.m. Doors to Chesapeake Energy Arena will open at 5:30.

GIVEAWAYS: To tip off the team’s 12th season, all fans in attendance will receive a 2019-20 schedule magnet, courtesy of Sprite, when entering Chesapeake Arena. Love’s Loud City ticketholders will receive a pair of Love’s socks when they enter the upper level.

ENTERTAINMENT: At halftime, rock band Hinder will perform an acoustic set including their hit, “Lips of an Angel.” Hailing from Oklahoma, the band will also cover the Eagle’s “Life in the Fast Lane” for their two-song set. Oklahoma native Leona Mitchell will be performing the national anthem prior to tipoff. From Enid, Mitchell is an operatic soprano and an Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame inductee. She’s a Grammy Award-winning soprano who sang for 18 seasons as a leading Spinto soprano at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Members of the Oklahoma City Fire Department will present the colors for the national anthem and Fr. Rick Stansberry from Christ the King Catholic Church will lead the invocation. 

Fans are encouraged to get to their seats early for a special Opening Night performance and player introduction by Jabee - Oklahoma actor and hip-hop artist.

THUNDER ALLEY: Starting at 4 p.m., fans are invited to Thunder Alley, the team’s family-friendly pregame festival on Reno Avenue. Interactive elements will include inflatable games and the OG&E ThunderBolt. The pregame event will also have multiple photo opportunities, a rock-climbing wall, face painters and pop-a-shot games. Drinks will be available at the Budweiser beer garden and the Thunder merchandise trailer will be stocked with Thunder gear available for purchase. Regardless of whether they have a ticket, all fans are welcome to enjoy Thunder Alley, which will close at tipoff.

THUNDER SHOP: The Thunder Shop has been stocked with brand new gear for the new Thunder season including the team’s 2019-20 Association, Icon and Statement jerseys. Concourse doors to the team store will open at 5:30 p.m.

TICKETS: Fans can browse all available tickets for both Friday’s Opening Night and Sunday’s Thunder vs. Warriors game through the link at okcthunder.com/buytickets. All tickets sold through the Thunder website, both from the team and from other fans, are authentic and guarantee admission into Chesapeake Energy Arena for the game.
