OKLAHOMA CITY, June 9, 2010 – The Oklahoma City Thunder is sponsoring a reception Saturday honoring the makers of a documentary chronicling the life of Oklahoma basketball great Wayman Tisdale. The premiere of “The Wayman Tisdale Story” is part of the deadCENTER Film Festival this week in downtown Oklahoma City.

The screening is at 3 p.m. Saturday at Kerr Auditorium, 123 Robert S. Kerr Avenue. Ticket information is available at deadcenterfilm.org.

A reception sponsored by the Thunder will be at 4:30 p.m. at Sage Restaurant, 228 NE 2nd Street. On hand for the event will be the documentary maker, Brian Schodorf.

“The Thunder is grateful for the opportunity to help celebrate the life and legacy of Wayman Tisdale,” said Thunder Community Relations Director Christine Berney. “The documentary is a fitting tribute to his rare talents and character.”

A three-time All-American at the University of Oklahoma, Tisdale went on to play in the NBA and later became a renowned jazz musician. He died of cancer last year at age 44.

The Thunder honored Tisdale in April of last year when he was named a Devon Energy Community Hero.
