Thunder Signs Derek Fisher

OKLAHOMA CITY, March 21, 2012 – The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed guard Derek Fisher to a contract, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fisher, a five-time NBA Champion, has appeared in 1,153 career regular season games (722 starts) and recorded averages of 8.7 points, 3.1 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 26.3 minutes per game during his 15-plus year NBA career.

“We are excited to add Derek to the Thunder and believe his experience and abilities will make a positive impact with our team,” said Presti. “He is someone that will enhance our roster’s current and future development on and off the floor through his knowledge, professionalism and approach to the game.”

Fisher has made 13 trips to the postseason and posted averages of 8.9 points, 2.6 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 209 career playoff games.

The Arkansas-Little Rock product is currently one of ten active players to tally 10,000 career points, 3,500 assist and 1,200 steals.

Concurrent with the Fisher signing, the Oklahoma City Thunder waived forward Ryan Reid.
