Thunder Exercises Options on Ferguson and Gilgeous-Alexander

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oct. 18, 2019 – The Oklahoma City Thunder exercised its fourth-year contract option on guard Terrance Ferguson and its third-year contract option on guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti.Ferguson has appeared in 135 games (86 starts) with the Thunder, averaging 5.2 points on 35.6 percent shooting from three-point range to go along with 1.4 rebounds in 20.0 minutes. During the 2018-19 season, Ferguson started in each of his 74 appearances and during the month of January, he led the team in three-point shooting (47.9 percent). The Tulsa, Okla. native became the third player in NBA history to record 24 points and six three-pointers in his first career start on Jan. 3, 2018 at the Los Angeles Lakers. Ferguson was originally selected 21st overall by the Thunder in the 2017 NBA Draft.Gilgeous-Alexander earned All-Rookie Second Team honors this past season after appearing in all 82 games (73 starts) with the LA Clippers and recorded averages of 10.8 points, 3.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.17 steals in 26.5 minutes. He was named a member of the World Team for the 2019 Rising Stars Challenge. He ended the season by scoring 20 or more points in four of the last seven games while also scoring in double figures in 17 of the final 20 games of the 2018-19 season.Among teams with a winning record last season, Gilgeous-Alexander led all rookies in scoring and minutes played. A native of Toronto, Canada, Gilgeous-Alexander was selected 11th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft after spending one season at the University of Kentucky.
