Thunder Rings in 2020 vs. Dallas Mavericks

Oklahoma City, Monday, Dec. 30, 2019 – The Oklahoma City Thunder will continue its tradition and ring in the new year on Dec. 31 at Chesapeake Energy Arena. The game against the Dallas Mavericks will get underway at 7 p.m., and doors to the arena will open at 5:30 p.m. The game will mark both the Thunder’s 12th consecutive New Year’s Eve game at home and third consecutive year the team has faced the Mavericks on New Year’s Eve.

Upon arrival, all fans in attendance will receive an LED wristband courtesy of MidFirst Bank. The wristbands will be programmed to activate in the arena throughout the game with music and lighting cues. The festive light display will add to the special game atmosphere as the Thunder rings in the new year, giving fans another way to be part of the Thunder experience. After the game, fans who wear their wristbands at the Opening Night Grand Finale in Bicentennial Park will see them light up again during the Finale Countdown, starting at 11:30 p.m. At that time, the wristbands will activate along with live music, lighting and fireworks.

After the game, there will be a Roaring ‘20s postgame party that will last for 90 minutes in the concourse located at the southwest entry by Sections 115/116. The party is open to fans of all ages with tickets to the game. The party will feature entertainers, music, refreshments, specialty cocktails and access to the Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Club and the Budweiser Brew House. The featured musical performer is crooner Wade Tower and his accompanist. 

Tipping off New Year’s Eve festivities, Thunder Girls, Storm Chasers and Thunder Drummers will be at the annual Arts Council Oklahoma City Finale 5K, which will begin at 3 p.m. at Bicentennial Park. There will be live music and food trucks at various locations downtown starting at 7 p.m. leading up to the Opening Night Grand Finale.
