The Thunder Cares A Latte

Towering over the counter at a local coffee shop, Nerlens Noel, Hamidou Diallo and Luguentz Dort tested their coffee-making skills as they treated customers to a caffeinated pick-me-up on Wednesday afternoon.

The Thunder trio traded in their ball skills for barista skills for the afternoon-- learning all of the ins and outs of making a good cup of joe. From taking orders, refilling the coffee beans to making and serving the coffee, the players had their hand in everything.

Diallo tried his hand at making a cup of pour over coffee- a coffee brewing technique which requires precise measurement and patience. A skill he would now rate pretty high on a scale from one to 10 after a quick example from the barista.

“My coffee-making skills are at a high seven. I mean, I learned pretty fast,” Diallo said with a smirk.

One-by-one, customers lined up at the register ready to purchase their drinks only to be pleasantly surprised when they realized their coffee would be taken care of thanks to the Thunder.

“It’s great,” said Dort, “I know we put a lot of time in on the court, but it’s good sometimes to get out a little bit and come out here and have fun.”
