On the latest episode of the Warriors Podcast, host and play-by-play broadcaster Tim Roye conducted interviews with three training camp invites Kendric Davis, Donovan Williams and Javan Johnson.

Donovan Williams(4:17) Roye interviewed wing Donovan Williams, who shares a hometown, Missouri City, Texas, with popular singer and songwriter Beyonce.

"Beyonce is lowkey in my family…she's already a Warriors fan," Williams said.

Williams shared two player comparisons of one current NBA player and one former Warriors' Finals MVP, who he believes resembles how he plays.

"If you look at my game and Andre Iguodala's game, you see a lot of parallels," Williams said.

He also compared himself to Mikal Bridges, a two-way wing who averaged 26.1 points per game in the 27 games he played after being traded to the Brooklyn Nets last season.

"That is probably the clearest comparison you can make," Williams said. "Young, energic, I have the offensive and defensive ability. Every team is looking for a guy like that. Similar to Klay and Wiggins."

Kendric Davis(13:27) Next, Roye sat down with guard Kendic Davis. Davis was a huge Stephen Curry and Warriors fan growing up and shared that he "chipped his tooth from running around the house crying after the Warriors lost the 2016 NBA Finals."

Davis is happy to be wearing the same jersey as the player he rooted for growing up and shared that he's looking forward to starting his career watching "two HOFers" at his position.

"Not many rookies can say they got to learn from Stephen Curry and Chris Paul," Davis said.

Despite going undrafted, Davis was the starting point guard for the Warriors' summer league team and isn't fazed by not being selected in the draft.

"It's not about who gets there first, it's about who lasts the longest," Davis said.

Javan Johnson(24:36) Finally, Roye talked to forward Javan Johnson, who played at three different colleges (Troy, Iowa State, DePaul) before entering the league.

Johnson shot 41.2 percent from three on 6.0 attempts per game in his final collegiate season and has gotten an opportunity to learn from some of the league's best shooters during training camp.

"I learn a lot from watching how Steph and Klay work each day," Williams said.

On this episode of the Warriors Podcast, we pay tribute to the loss of basketball's greatest champion, and NBA pioneer, Bill Russell. Tim Roye chats with 3x NBA champion, NorCal native Bill Cartwright who followed in Russell's footsteps at the University of San Francisco, and we turn back the clock to a conversation that Jim Barnett had with Russell himself.

Roye and Cartwright discuss Russell being around the Warriors and the response that the players had to him.

Roye (3:54): "It really struck me for all of the talk we have about how the younger generations don't respect the older generations, but when he walked into the room; when he was in the gym, the reaction was unbelievable. The respect that he was given by younger players who had never seen him play, I thought it was remarkable."

Cartwright talks about the impact that Russell had on the court, from his time at the University of San Francisco to the Boston Celtics.

Cartwright (6:43): "His first year there, they win a championship. Eleven championships in 13 years. It's just nothing short of amazing. To have that kind of dominance, that's what really made him different than anybody we'd ever seen in basketball."

Roye and Cartwright speak on Russell's fight for justice off of the court, along with other athletes of his generation.

Cartwright (14:04): "It makes those guys heroes. These guys were able to use, by whatever means, their platform to stand up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves.

"With [Russell], Jim Brown, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Muhammad Ali, that made those guys heroes. That really separated them from everybody else."

Roye touches into the career of Steve Kerr in this edition of “75 Years, 75 Stars” for the Warriors. At the University of Arizona, Kerr played for legendary coach Lute Olson. Kerr won five championships in his playing career, including hitting a game-winning shot in Game 6 of the 1997 NBA Finals. He is the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-point percentage, making 45.4 percent of his shot from 3-point range during his 15-year career. Kerr made the NBA Finals in his first five seasons coaching the Warriors, winning three championships and was named one of the 15 Greatest Coaches in NBA history earlier in the 2021-22 season. Poole and Roye discuss the recent injury of Stephen Curry and how the team can maintain a top four spot in the Western Conference and who may step up for the team. The two also speak on the team’s depth and how to get ready for their playoff rotations. (1:46 -14:20)

Roye touches into the career of Joe Ellis in this edition of “75 Years, 75 Stars” for the Warriors. Ellis went to McClymonds High School before playing college basketball at the University of San Francisco. He was then drafted 13th overall in the second round of the 1966 NBA Draft by the Warriors. In eight years with the team, Ellis averaged 8.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, including averaging 15.8 points per game in the 1969-70 season. He was inducted into the USF Hall of Fame in 1973 and had his No. 31 jersey retired by the Dons in 2020. (23:17 - 30:02)

They discuss Toscano-Anderson’s time at All-Star Weekend, and Golden State entering their stretch run after the break. Tim also sits down with now former Warriors beat writer Connor Letourneau. They took a look back at Letourneau’s time covering the Warriors and more!

Toscano-Anderson and Roye discuss NBA All-Star Weekend and what it meant to participate in the 2022 AT&amp;T Slam Dunk Contest.

Toscano-Anderson (14:10): “It was a lot of fun. Great experience. New experiences are always fun, right. It was something I got to enjoy with my family. Some of my family came. A lot of my family who wasn’t able to come, they watched and celebrated. That was really cool just to bring a moment of proudness to my family and my mom and my brother and sisters.”

Toscano-Anderson and Roye talk about Toscano-Anderson repping a Jason Richardson jersey during the dunk contest and talking to the Warriors great after the event.

Toscano-Anderson (15:11): “That was really cool. It’s unfortunate I didn’t convert the dunk. I knew it was a hard dunk, it was something I had only had done once. We laughed about it. We had a conversation after the fact and he told me he only did it once and that was in the dunk contest… He was someone I grew up watching and admired obviously, being a Warriors fan and being from Oakland. I knew Warriors fans would appreciate that.”

Toscano-Anderson talks about being around the players honored on the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.

Toscano-Anderson (16:12): “It’s not every day that we get to be around greatness, in any facet of life. Like how often do you get to be around the greatest people to do what you do. It recharges my batteries and the desire to keep working, keep trying to get better, keep pursuing greatness to some capacity. Trying to be great, trying to win a championship and all of those things.”

Toscano-Anderson and Roye discuss the final stretch of the Warriors season after returning from the All-Star Break and how he tries to find different ways to help the team.

Toscano-Anderson (17:45): “Lock in. Focus. Take care of our bodies, try to stay healthy. And just really dedicate all of our time, energy and being to trying to pursue this goal.”

Roye touches into the career of Wilt Chamberlain in this edition of “75 Years, 75 Stars” for the Warriors. Chamberlain averaged 50.4 points and 25.7 rebounds in 1961-62, his third season in the league. His 100-point performance on March 2, 1962 is still the most in the league history. Chamberlain finished his career as a 2x NBA Champion, 4x MVP, 13x All-Star, 7x scoring champion, 11x rebounding champion, 1x Finals MVP winner and Rookie of the Year, among various other records. Tim Roye sits down with Golden State Warriors rookie, Moses Moody! Together they discuss Moody's journey from Arkansas to the NBA, how he has adjusted, what he is learning and more!

Moody talks about his adjustment coming from Arkansas to the NBA and what it is like playing with this year’s Warriors team.

Moody (2:43): “It is fun. They make the game a lot easier. When I’m out there with Steph, Klay and Wiggs, I got a lot of open shots. It’s a lot easier to play with them, a lot of fun to play with them. A lot of fun to play, period.”

Moody and Roye discuss the Warriors recent win in San Antonio, with the Dubs only having nine players available, playing without Nemanja Bjelica, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala, Otto Porter Jr., Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins. Moody recorded a season-high 20 points in a season-high 37 minutes as the Warriors overcame a 17-point deficit to win 124-120 on the road. Moody also made a career-high six 3-pointers, the second-most ever made by a Warriors rookie, trailing only Stephen Curry’s rookie record of seven threes made on Feb. 10, 2010 against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Moody (4:07): “Going in, it could be pressure, knowing that you don’t have those guy and us being competitors, we’re not okay with losing. So knowing we are kinda short-staffed and going into San Antonio, an away game, and forcing ourself to come out with a win. Pressure is only motivation to perform. Not in a negative way, but at the same it was a free swing. We were expected to lose, wasn’t supposed to win, figuratively speaking. That made us more relaxed and allowed the game to be more fun and fluid.”

Moses Moody performed a feat that is not done too often in today’s basketball: playing three games in three days in three different cities. Here is a look at his journey.

Moody (5:13): “It was a journey. Traveling on the road to the next game had a little AAU feel, took me back a little bit.”

Moody talks about playing for Arkansas Head Coach Eric Musselman, who coached the Warriors from 2002-2004. In Moody’s one year at Arkansas, he averaged 16.8 points per game and was named SEC Freshman of the Year, First Team All-SEC, SEC All-Freshman Team and AP Honorable Mention All-American as the team advanced to its first Elite Eight since since 1995.

Moody (9:33): “It was fun. Just him being that passionate. They often say that a team takes on the personality of their coach, so I feel like that was the case in times. I’m more of a mild-mannered type of guy, but when I’m in a basketball game, I’m locked in, going for everything, just trying to come out with the win. So, we have the same mentality, just opposite approaches to it. That was good, opposites attract. Having that dynamic between us two was good for the team, I feel like.”

Moody has bounced around between the Warriors and the Santa Cruz Warriors this season. The rookie guard has played in nine games (all starts) with Santa Cruz, averaging 27.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.66 steals in 32.3 minutes per game.

Moody (12:49): “It’s done a lot for me, especially since I haven’t been getting that many minutes with Golden State, so it’s reps. It’s an opportunity to play and I feel like when I do play at Santa Cruz, it’s not as much pressure. It’s more like I can go out there and be free, have fun and play like I did back at home. So that’s been good. And I am able to work on different things I’m not able to work on in Golden State games because I have to figure out my niche, figure out my role and kinda stick to that right now before I grow and expand my game. [Santa Cruz] is the place for me to experiment, have fun and figure things out.”

Moody and Roye discuss where his rookie season is headed and playing some meaningful basketball after the regular season.

Moody (18:28): “That’s another experience that comes along with this journey that I’m having. I wouldn’t sacrifice it to be playing more minutes on another team because I’m able to go through this year and gain knowledge, gain experiences and learn all of this from the backseat. So that’s even easier. If I was driving the car, then I wouldn’t really notice all the things that are really going on. I would just be so focused on playing, but right now I’m able to pay attention, listen, learn and figure everything out and hopefully I get a ride all the way to the finals to just gain all that knowledge and experience.”

Tim Roye sits down with former Golden State Warriors General Manager and current co-host of the Warriors Roundtable, Garry St. Jean! Together they discuss the current Warriors season, and relive some of their fondest memories of past Golden State teams.

St. Jean talks about the adjustments from the coaching staff and players when a team is not at full strength. He also discusses Stephen Curry’s increase of assists in January without Draymond Green in the lineup and his willingness to rebound. (1:58 -9:29)
