What’s at Stake for the Warriors in the 2024 NBA Draft Lottery 

The 2023-24 Warriors dealt with adversity both on and off the court as seasoned veterans and ascending young talent collaborated for a 46-win season. Despite difficult circumstances, including the tragic passing of 'Coach Deki' and multiple Draymond Green suspensions, the Warriors endured and overcame a sub .500 record through 43 games and finished the season strong. Over their final 39 games, the Dubs had a 27-12 record, on pace with the top seeds in the Western Conference. The Dubs finished the season in 10th place in the West at 46-36, tied for the best record for a team not to make the playoffs since the 2013-14 Phoenix Suns (48-34). HONORING STAR-STUDDED TRIOOn Nov. 30 2023, the Warriors honored the NBA's longest-tenured trio — Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green — with each number of the date corresponding to a number of a member of the trio. This season was the trio's 12th as teammates and their 10th sharing the court together, as Thompson missed two seasons due to injury (achilles and ACL) and Curry played just five games due to a hand injury in the 2019-20 season. 2023-24: Warriors Season in Review

The 2024 offseason will be very eventful for the Warriors, including the NBA Draft, free agency, Summer League and involvement in a star-studded Olympic team headed to Paris.

MAY 12: NBA DRAFT LOTTERY  On May 12, the Warriors will find out the status of their potential first-round draft pick. The Warriors' 2024 First Round pick is top-4 protected, meaning it will go to the Portland Trail Blazers unless it lands in the top-4. The Dubs have the lowest odds of getting the first pick among lottery teams (0.7%) and the pick is currently projected to be the 14th overall selection. They initially traded this pick to the Memphis Grizzlies in the Andre Iguodala trade on July 7, in which they received forward Julian Washburn and a trade exception that allowed them to bring in additional salary in another transaction.

Note: The Warriors will not have that first-round pick unless it falls in the top four.&nbsp;

This year, the NBA Draft will span over two days, with the first round on June 26 and the second round on June 27. The Dubs will have at least one draft pick, receiving the 52nd pick from the Indiana Pacers in a trade deadline deal in which they also traded guard Cory Joseph. The Dubs most recently selected guard Brandin Podziemski with the 19th overall pick in the first round and center Trayce Jackson-Davis with the 57th overall pick in the second round. The Warriors have made draft day trades in the past, including acquiring Chris Paul and the draft rights to Jackson-Davis from the Washington Wizards last season.

Klay Thompson is grateful for the bond he's been able to share with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green as they conclude their 10th season together. The trio has won four championships together and made six trips to the NBA Finals. Despite this season being the first that they missed the playoffs with the whole trio healthy, Thompson understands that you're not going to win the championship every year and still relished in the opportunity to suit up with his basketball brothers. He was most proud of the 77 games he played this season, the most since before his two catastrophic injuries in 2018-19. Thompson averaged 17.9 points and shot 38.7 percent from three this season and shot a league-best 92.7 percent from the free throw line.

In his first season with the Warriors, Chris Paul built on what he considers a lifelong bond with Curry, but for the first time as teammates. From early on in training camp and throughout the season, Paul and Curry worked out together, allowing the 19-year NBA vet to witness how Curry prepares throughout the season. Combining for 34 years of experience, the pair were able to appreciate each other's approach to sustained success. Paul came off the bench for the first time in his career this season and still led the team in assists per game (6.8).

Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis completed incredibly impactful rookie seasons for the Warriors, which placed them among the top-performing players in their draft class. Podziemski (28) and Jackson-Davis (17) combined for 45 starts (including the Play-In Tournament) and were key contributors on both ends of the floor. Jackson-Davis was the team's top shot blocker, blocking a team-high 76 shots and recording a team-leading 1.1 blocks per game. Jackson-Davis also became the first Warriors rookie to make 100 dunks in a season since play-by-play data was first tracked in 1997-98. He finished second among rookies in field goals percentage (70.2%, min 200 FGM).

"I thought overall I had a pretty solid rookie season," Jackson-Davis said, putting it modestly.

In their exit interviews, both Podziemski and Jackson-Davis emphasized a desire to get even better and improve on their rookie successes. Podziemski sees growth opportunities with more on-ball reps and getting even more efficient with his playmaking.

"I think the ball will be in my hands a little bit more and just being more efficient, trying to take the burden off Steph and Draymond's shoulders," Podziemski said. "When we got into games that we really need to win, we kind of just deferred to Steph and I think that's natural, just because of the level that he's at and that he's been doing for so long, but I think for our other guys it's about how can we impact games that are meaningful and take the burden off his shoulders."

The abrupt conclusion of the season, via the Play-In Tournament, left a sour taste in his mouth.

"I don't want to be in the play-in anymore," Podziemski said. "I had my little taste of it and it was terrible, so just getting that top 6 seed every year is something I look forward to."

Jackson-Davis is also using the Play-In Tournament for motivation and specifically, a player he directly competed against, Kings center Domantas Sabonis.

"Coach mentioned Sabonis's name and the force he plays with," Jackson-Davis said. "Improving on free throws and then being able to hit a catch and shoot threes is something I want to expand on."

The rookie duo plan to play in Summer League to continue their development and showcase their offseason growth. They have enjoyed having each other by their side along the way.

"I feel like he's a brother to me," Podziemski said about Jackson-Davis. "Every step of our NBA journey, we've been together from Santa Cruz, summer league last year, being out of the rotation together, we ended up starting together. For Trayce and I, developing that connection on and off the floor is going to be impactful for years to come."
