The Philadelphia 76ers claimed a 44-point win (138-94) over the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, marking their seventh straight win over the Lakers, tying a franchise record (seven-game streak Jan. 25, 1966-Jan. 20, 1967). The win marked the team's largest-ever margin of victory over the Lakers and was the 10th time in team history Philadelphia won by at least 44 (last time coming on April 28, 2021, versus Atlanta), per Stathead. 

This victory was fueled by the 76ers draining 22 threes, the second-most makes from deep in team history, trailing a 23-three-pointer performance on April 5, 2022 at Indiana (Stathead). 

In the win, JOEL EMBIID recorded his sixth career triple-double (30 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists); his fourth 30-point triple-double. It's his first of the season, and he broke a tie with MICHAEL CARTER-WILLIAMS and Hall of Famer GEORGE MCGINNIS for the seventh-most triple-doubles in franchise history (Stathead). 

"Well, he draws a lot of attention, right, because he’s such a good scorer and usually you got to take your choice of [are] you gonna stop him or come off of people?" said 76ers Head Coach Nick Nurse. "I’m super impressed with how much [Joel Embiid] is going to the basket and how much he’s offensive rebounding. Those are big buckets when he just decides alright, 'I’m gonna go get the offensive rebound, stick it back in'. Those are big spirit lifting plays for us.  

These four 30-point triple-doubles tied Embiid for second in 76ers history with Hall of Famer CHARLES BARKLEY. Only Hall of Famer WILT CHAMBERLAIN (15) has more such outings (Stathead). 

TYRESE MAXEY added in 31 points and eight assists with no turnovers, his third career game of at least 30, five dimes and zero turnovers. These performances are tied for the second-most in team history with JEFF HORNACEK. Only Hall of Famer ALLEN IVERSON (four) has more such outings (Stathead). 

"I just felt the past I don’t know six, seven games like in the first quarter I was just kind of out there trying to go with the flow and I think that hurts our team more than helps us," Maxey said. "And when I say aggressive I don’t mean just shooting the ball every time, just being aggressive, trying to get to the paint, trying to kick out the shooters, and then also look for my shot as well."

Maxey has posted two such games this season, which is tied for the league lead with Dallas'&nbsp;LUKA DONCIC&nbsp;(Stathead).&nbsp;

PATRICK BEVERLEY (12 points) and MARCUS MORRIS SR. (16 points, 6-8 FG) combined for 28 points off the bench. All 12 of Beverley’s points came via the three, his first game with at least four threes since March 28, 2023 (Stathead).

Embiid Records Triple-Double in 44-Point Win Over LeBron James, Lakers

It’ll be a battle of the Eastern Conference’s best in South Philadelphia, as the 76ers (8-2) will host the Boston Celtics (8-2) for the second consecutive Wednesday.

The Sixers face a quick turnaround, hosting Boston for the second night of a back-to-back after falling narrowly to Indiana (7-4) Tuesday, 132-126.

After just their second loss of the young season, Tyrese Maxey (27 pts, 4 reb, 5 ast) was heartened by the fight the team has shown in each of its 10 games thus far:

“This team’s fighting, for sure,” Maxey said. “There’s no doubt about that. There’s no quit, no nothing. This team’s gonna fight. We know that for a fact.”

The Sixers took a 1-0 regular season series lead over Boston in last week’s matchup, a 106-103 win.

Eastern Conference Player of the Week Joel Embiid led the way in that victory, notching a 27-point, 10-rebound double-double, with four assists and three blocks, while Maxey added 25 points, nine rebounds, five assists, a steal, and two blocks.

Kristaps Porzingis was Boston’s leading scorer last Wednesday, totalling 29 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a block.

Ahead of the rematch, the Sixers, Celtics, and best-in-the-West Denver Nuggets all hold the league’s best record this season thus far (8-2). The Nuggets face the Magic Wednesday in Orlando.

The Celtics have won their last three in a row, most recently notching a 114-98 victory over the Knicks in Boston on Monday.

Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics Monday, finishing with 35 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and a steal. Jaylen Brown added 22 points, five rebounds, six assists, a steal, and a block, and Kristaps Porzingis totalled 21 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a block.

Tatum leads Boston in scoring (28.4 ppg) and rebounding (8.9 rpg) this season, while new Celtic Jrue Holiday leads the team in assists (5.5 apg).

Wednesday’s matchup marks the first stop on a four-game road trip for Boston, which will subsequently visit Toronto, Memphis, and Charlotte.

Wednesday’s matchup is a 7:30 p.m. ET tip.

The Sixers are scheduled to wear their blue Icon Edition uniforms Wednesday, while the Celtics are scheduled to wear their white City Edition uniforms.

Sixers Host Celtics in Second Game of Back-to-Back | Gameday Report 11/82

The 76ers (8-1), winners of eight straight games, host the Indiana Pacers (6-4) again on Tuesday night - this time as part of the NBA In-Season Tournament.

The Sixers hold the best record in the NBA after a 137-126 win over the Pacers and a subsequent Denver Nuggets (8-2) loss in Houston on Sunday. Philadelphia’s Tyrese Maxey scored a career-high 50 points (20-32 fg, 7-11 3fg, 3-3 ft) against Indiana, while Joel Embiid posted 37 point, 13-rebound double-double to surpass 11,000 career points.

Embiid received his 12th career Eastern Conference Player of the Week award on Monday.

The MVP also provided plenty of encouragement throughout Sunday’s contest, according to Maxey:

“Yeah, I think Joel wanted me to get 50 more than I think I did,” Maxey said. “He was going to grab the ball and was like, ‘You are going to shoot this basketball.’ I just appreciate my teammates, appreciate the fans, coaching staff. It was a great night. We got the win and that’s what matters the most.”

“It was amazing to watch,” said Embiid. “I said at the end, I’ve had a bunch of 50s [point games], but it’s fun to watch someone else do it. Especially since when I do it, I usually have 20 free throws. Just his shot-making ability, his stepback, crossovers - it goes back to the work he put in this offseason with his people, and it’s paying off. I’m just so happy for him.”

With the Boston Celtics set to visit Wednesday, the Sixers’ meeting with the Pacers is the front end of a home back-to-back for the team.

Tyrese Haliburton notched a double-double with 25 points (9-14 fg, 3-6 3fg, 4-4 ft) and a game-high 17 assists in Philadelphia on Sunday. The Sixers, however, have now defeated the Pacers in each of the last seven meetings between the two clubs. That streak includes a perfect 4-0 sweep in last year’s season series.

To tip off their In-Season Tournament slate last week, the Sixers defeated the Pistons in Detroit, 114-106. The Pacers are also 1-0 in group play, thanks to a 121-116 result against the Cavaliers back on Nov. 3.

The NBA In-Season Tournament divides all 30 teams into six groups (three in each conference), with tournament games taking place on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout November.

The Sixers play each of the other four teams in their group once - two home and two away. Eight teams total (four per conference) will advance from Group Play into the Knockout Rounds: the six group winners and one wild card from each conference with the next-best record.

Along with Philadelphia, Indiana, and Detroit, East Group A includes Atlanta and Cleveland.

Knockout-Round matchups are single-elimination and the Quarterfinals will be played in NBA team markets, before the Semifinals and Championship shift to Las Vegas on Dec. 7 and Dec. 9.

All contests count towards the regular season except for the Championship.

Yes, there is a prize pool for players and coaches, but the teams are also vying for the first-ever NBA Cup trophy. An In-Season Tournament Most Valuable Player and All-Tournament Team will also be announced at the conclusion of the event.

Players on the winning team each receive a $500,000 bonus this season, with $200,000 awarded to each player on the runner-up (plus $100,000 to each losing semifinalist and $50,000 to each losing quarterfinalist).

All told, the 76ers corralled a season-high 23 offensive rebounds while outrebounding the Pacers, 54-32.

“Their team is very tied together, obviously. They’re great at both ends. [Joel] Embiid hasn’t missed a step from last year to this year. [Tyrese] Maxey’s an All-Star. He’s just an All-Star player. And their supporting cast is just really terrific because they all play super hard. They’re obviously very well coached, and they throw a lot of things at you defensively.”

Tuesday’s contest is a 7 p.m. ET start in Philadelphia.

In-Season Tournament Play Continues as Sixers Host Pacers | Gameday Report 10/82

The 76ers defeated the Pacers, 137-126, marking the team's eighth consecutive victory. Philadelphia's 8-1 record marks the 10th time in team history -- and the first time since the 2000-01 season, that the 76ers have won eight of their first nine games to open a campaign (Stathead). 

Philadelphia improved to 6-0 at home this season, marking the third time the 76ers have compiled a home winning streak of six or more contests since the 2020-21 season.&nbsp;

The 76ers produced 137 points on 50.5% shooting, marking the team's second game this season with at least 135 points on 50 percent shooting (Nov. 6 vs. WAS). That is tied with Indiana for most such games in the league in 2022-23 (Stathead).

JOEL EMBIID (26 points, 8-12 FG, 10-12 FT) and TYRESE MAXEY (25 points, 10-16 FG, 4-7 3FG) combined for 51 of the 76ers’ 69 points in the first half, making them the first pair of teammates to both score at least 25 points in a single half in the play-by-play era (since 1997-98). Embiid and Maxey are the eighth set of teammates to accomplish this feat league wide (Elias Sports Bureau). 

Maxey scored a career-high 50 points on 20-of-32 shooting (7-11 3-PT), to go along with seven rebounds and five assists, making him the sixth player in franchise history to produce at least 50 points, five rebounds, and five assists in a single game. He joins Hall of Famers WILT CHAMBERLAIN, HAL GREER and ALLEN IVERSON, along with DANA BARROS and Embiid as the only 76ers to accomplish that feat.

Maxey and Iverson are the only two players in franchise history to tally at least 50 points, five rebounds, and five assists in a single game under the age of 24&nbsp;(Stathead).&nbsp;

Since 1973-74 (when blocked shots were first tracked), Maxey joins&nbsp;ANTHONY DAVIS&nbsp;(Oct. 26, 2016) and Hall of Famer&nbsp;KOBE BRYANT&nbsp;(Feb. 18, 2003) as the only players aged 23-or-young with a stat line of at least 50 points, five rebounds, five assists and three blocks (Elias Stats Bureau).&nbsp;

Maxey's 50-point outing also marked his third straight game with at least 25 points, matching his career high.&nbsp;He is averaging 34.7 points during this three-game stretch.&nbsp;

Embiid's 37 point tonight represented the 11,000th&nbsp;point of his career,&nbsp;making him the seventh player in team history to reach that milestone.&nbsp;&nbsp;By doing so in his 403rd&nbsp;NBA game, he joins the likes of&nbsp;KAREEM ABDUL-JABBAR, RICK BARRY, ELGIN BAYLOR, WILT CHAMBERLAIN, GEORGE GERVIN LEBRON JAMES, MICHAEL JORDAN, BOB MCADOO, OSCAR ROBERTSON&nbsp;and&nbsp;JERRY WEST&nbsp;as the only players in NBA history to tally 11,000 points in as many games or fewer (Stathead/Elias Stats Bureau).&nbsp;

Nineteen of Embiid’s 37 points came in the first quarter on 6-of-8 shooting (7-8 FT), good for the second-highest scoring opening quarter in the NBA this season&nbsp;(ties&nbsp;ZACH LAVINE - 19, Oct. 28),&nbsp;per(Stathead).&nbsp;

Embiid produced 37 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists in 33 minutes, marking the 29th&nbsp;game of at least 35 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in his NBA career. Those 29 games represent the second-most in franchise history&nbsp;(35 Wilt Chamberlain).&nbsp;His three such games through nine contests in 2022-23 lead all NBA players this season&nbsp;(Stathead).&nbsp;&nbsp;

Embiid has now tallied at least 25 points and 10 rebounds in seven consecutive games, marking the third such streak of his career.&nbsp;Only Hall of famer Wilt Chamberlain has done so more times (seven such streaks), per Stathead.&nbsp;

Maxey Scores 50, 76ers Beat Pacers Sunday for Eighth Straight Win

The 76ers (7-1) have won seven straight, sitting atop the Eastern Conference standings headed into a two-game set with the Indiana Pacers (6-3).

The Sixers return home for the series, after winning their first In-Season Tournament game Friday in Detroit. The second of the two meetings with Indiana - both to be played in South Philadelphia on Sunday and Tuesday - will also count towards the In-Season Tournament.

While the Sixers trailed by as many as 16 in the first half versus Detroit, the team rallied in the second half to notch a 114-106 victory, fueled by an impressive third quarter in which the team took a 35-21 advantage over the Pistons.

“I do like if this is a characteristic we have - and it seems like we have it - I like how well we play in the second half,” Nick Nurse said following the win. It seems like we really come out and play the third and fourth quarters at a different level.”

After yet another standout performance in Detroit, Tyrese Maxey and the Tyrese Maxey Foundation were up early Saturday in North Philadelphia, hosting Maxey’s annual Turkey Drive.

“It means everything to me,” Maxey said at Saturday’s event. “As long as I see people smile, as long as I see people have joy, I’m happy.”

This year’s Turkey Drive fed over 1,000 families, provided with a Turkey, sides, and snacks, for a family of 6-8 people.&nbsp;

Maxey hopes that as his star rises on the court, his work in the community will grow simultaneously:

“It goes hand in hand. As long as I keep succeeding on the court, I can do things like this. That’s what makes us happy.”

Nurse was proud of Maxey’s pre-practice morning initiative:

“His personality is unbelievable. His character, family, all that stuff - is top shelf. Two things, I think are important - That these guys impact the communities where they’re from, and try to impact the communities where they’re playing. I think he does both of those things.”

The Pacers (6-3) occupy the No. 3 spot in the East as of Saturday.&nbsp;

All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton is averaging 23.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 11.6 assists in the early season.

The Pacers won their most recent matchup, a 126-124 win over Milwaukee. Haliburton led the Pacers to victory, finishing with a 29-point, 10-assist double-double, helping his team overcome Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 54-point night.

Sunday’s matchup is a 6:00 p.m. ET tip.

The Sixers are expected to wear their white Association Edition uniforms, while the Pacers will wear their Icon Edition navy blue uniforms.

76ers Set for First Game of Two-Game Series vs. Indiana Pacers

The 76ers (6-1) seek their seventh consecutive victory Friday night, visiting the Detroit Pistons (2-7) for the first of the team’s four In-Season Tournament Group Play outings.

Philadelphia sits alone atop the Eastern Conference standings after handing the Boston Celtics their second straight loss on Wednesday. In the 106-103 home victory, Joel Embiid (27 pts, 10 reb, 4 blk) and Tyrese Maxey (25 pts, 9 reb, 2 blk) combined for 52 points, 19 rebounds, and six blocked shots.

The Sixers outrebounded the Celtics, 56-43, and led by as many as 15 points.

On Thursday afternoon, Embiid and his son Arthur were all smiles:

The NBA In-Season Tournament tipped off last Friday, and all 30 teams were divided into six groups (three in each conference), with tournament games taking place on Tuesdays and Fridays in November.

Along with Philadelphia and Detroit, the other three clubs in East Group A are Atlanta, Cleveland, and Indiana.

The Pistons (2-7) are last in the Eastern Conference, and while the Sixers enter the meeting winners of six straight, Detroit hasn’t won in six consecutive tries.

Despite a 43-point third quarter Wednesday in Milwaukee, the Pistons fell to the Bucks by two, 120-118. Rookie Pistons guard Marcus Sasser continues to impress, scoring 26 points in 28 minutes off the bench. Leading scorer and 2021 No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham posted 33 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.&nbsp;

Cunningham averages 24.0 points per game after appearing in just 12 games last season due to surgery for a stress fracture in his left leg. Former Roman Catholic (Philadelphia) big man Jalen Duren, who turns 20 on Nov. 18, averages 13.9 points and a team-high 11.6 rebounds per game.

The Sixers swept the Pistons, 3-0, in the season series last year.

As of Thursday evening, Nicolas Batum (right finger sprain) was listed as probable for the Sixers.

Detroit will be extremely shorthanded. Their injury report includes six players: Bojan Bogdanovic (right calf strain), Alec Burks (left forearm contusion), Joe Harris (right shoulder sprain), Jaden Ivey (illness), Isaiah Livers (left ankle sprain), and Monte Morris (right quadriceps strain).

Friday’s contest is a 7 p.m. ET start in Detroit.

Home teams in the In-Season Tournament wear their City Edition uniforms, so the Pistons will be in black uniforms on the gray and red court in Detroit. The Sixers will wear their white Association Edition uniforms.

Like the other day in practice we had like three teams out there running through the plays and we were on the sideline, me, Joel (Embiid), and Tyrese (Maxey) were saying like we legit have 15 guys who can be in the rotation and with that, there’s a lot of responsibility with that and guys just being professional and ready.

“Guys also just being great teammates and wanting the next guy to play great basketball in front of them and to bring contributing efforts. It’s a long season and the goals that we have as a whole group to get to where we want to go, we know we are gonna need added efforts from everybody, so when guys come in the game off the bench and are able to produce winning plays out there that’s huge for us, but we definitely really have a deep team and I’d say it’s a good thing.”

The 76ers defeated the Boston Celtics, 106-103, to complete a perfect 5-0 homestand. Philadelphia's six consecutive wins represents the longest winning streak in the NBA this season. 

Philadelphia's 6-1 start represents its best start for the 76ers since the start of the 2020-21 season (Stathead).&nbsp;

The 76ers hold the best home record in the Eastern Conference (5-0). Philadelphia boasts a plus-minus of +15.2 at home, good for second in the East and fourth in the Association (NBA.com/stats).&nbsp;

JOEL EMBIID&nbsp;(27 points, 10-20 FG) and&nbsp;TYRESE MAXEY&nbsp;(25 points) combined for 52 of the team's points.&nbsp;

Embiid scored 10 of his 27 points in the opening quarter, and is currently averaging an Eastern Conference-best 9.1 points in the first quarter (2nd in NBA). 

Embiid added in 10 rebounds and four blocks, marking the fifth time in seven games this season that he's tallied at least 25 points and 10 rebounds.&nbsp;

The Cameroon native has scored at least 25 points and blocked four shots twice, joining ANTHONY DAVIS as the only two players with multiple such games this year (Stathead). 

"We did some really good things that we wanted to do. We had a lot of things we didn’t want to do happen, as well," said Head Coach Nick Nurse. "But you know, it’s kind of that time of the year, where we got to continue clean up you know some of that."

Tyrese Maxey produced 25 points, nine rebounds, and five assists while committing only one turnover. Over his last three games, Maxey has totaled 26 assists to just four turnovers, making him the first 76er since T.J. MCCONNELL in 2015 to post such numbers over a three-game span (Stathead). 

"I think guys got aggressive," Maxey said. "I think we had to settle into the game, and then I’m going to say our defense was playing really well, really good."

76ers Beat Boston At Home, Win Sixth Straight

The 76ers (5-1) will seek their sixth consecutive victory Wednesday, hosting the Boston Celtics (5-1) for a matchup featuring the two top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Wednesday’s contest marks the close of a season-long five-game homestand for the Sixers, who most recently notched a decisive 146-128 victory over Washington (1-5) Monday night.

Joel Embiid boasted one of the league’s most impressive stat lines in the early days of the 2023-24 season, finishing with 48 points (29 in the third quarter), 11 rebounds, and six assists, all prior to the fourth quarter.

“That’s pretty rare,” head coach Nick Nurse said of Embiid’s massive, and efficient, performance. “That’s a lot of points in 30 minutes of playing time... It seemed like he was ready.”

Nicolas Batum (11 pts, 2 reb, 1 stl, 4-5 fg), finishing at a game-high +30 in his Sixer debut, is thrilled to play alongside his longtime friend.

“I used to hate being on the other side (against Joel),” Batum said postgame. “Some guys, you’re just happy to be on their side. To be on his side, it’s fun.”

The Sixers currently boast the second-best net rating in the NBA (12.6), the third-best offensive rating (119.9), and fifth-best defensive rating (107.3).

The team leads the league in blocks per game (7.3) and fast break points per game (21.3).

The Celtics (5-1) won their first five games of the season, before falling to the Timberwolves (4-2) Monday in Minneapolis in overtime, 114-109.

Jayson Tatum leads Boston in scoring (30.5 ppg) and rebounding (8.8 rpg) early in the season, while new Celtic Jrue Holiday has led the team in assists (5.3 apg).

Fellow All-Star Jaylen Brown has averaged 23.2 points and 6.2 rebounds through the first six games of the year.

Wednesday’s matchup in Philadelphia marks the end of Boston’s three-game road trip.
