There were plenty of smiles at All-Star Weekend in Atlanta on Sunday, with Stephen Curry making a splash at the annual event. After claiming the title as this year’s 3-point Contest Champion, Curry helped Team LeBron lead all four quarters of the 2021 All-Star Game to earn a 170-150 win over Team Durant. Curry put on a performance, finishing with 28 points, four assists and two steals while shooting 10-for-19 from the field and 8-for-16 from beyond the arc. Curry joined sharpshooter Damian Lillard on Team LeBron, with the duo combining for 16 made treys on 50 percent shooting. Curry put on a show at his seventh All-Star appearance, and here are a few of the highlights:

DROPPING DIMES
Curry dished out a left-handed bounce pass to Nikola Jokic who was coming down the lane in the opening minutes of the 2021 All-Star Game, tipping off a night of excitement and energy.

NO LOOK SPLASH 
Curry was already all warmed up at the perimeter following the 3-Point Contest when Luka Doncic served up a corner dish. The two-time MVP turned around after hoisting the shot and sank the no look splash.

FROM THE LOGO 
Teammates for the first time, LeBron James looked to Curry at the logo for a deep three.

CURRY THROWS DOWN
Curry surprised everyone as he rose up for the slam, taking a moment to hang on the rim and enjoy his air time.

RANGE ON DISPLAY 
Curry sank his eighth and final splash of the night, followed by a set of back-to back splashes by Damian Lillard, to close out a 170-150 Team LeBron win at the 2021 All-Star Game.

Stephen Curry entered his seventh 3-Point Competition on Sunday leading the NBA in 3-point shots made (169), and his prolific splashing through the 2020-21 season carried through the event as he made 39 out of all 54 of his shots to win the event for the second time in his career.

Curry started his first round missing his first two shots, but then caught the hot hand as he made his next nine shots. Two of those were two money balls for two points as well as the new Mtn Dew Zone shot from 29-feet-9-inches away for three points. The Curry Flurry continued as he made his way over to his money ball rack and made the first four of his five shots from the right wing. He finished the round with 31 points.

That splashfest lead the field and secured Curry a spot in the final round with Mike Conley of the Utah Jazz (28 points) and Jason Tatum (25) of the Boston Celtics.

Two-time All-Star selection Jason Tatum tipped off the final round with a 17-point outing, but then first time All-Star and 14-year veteran Mike Conley erupted for 27 points. To claim the 3-point event title, Curry needed a near-repeat of his first round to win.

It was a nail-biter to say the least as Curry missed his first four shots of the final round. But once again, Curry caught fire after leaving the corner: he made 17 of his final 22 shots including both of the Mtn Dew Zone 3-point shots and 4-of-5 from his money ball rack again.

Despite the hot finish it still came down to the final rack. Curry had 23 points going into his final five shots, and after missing his third ball needed to make his final two shots to win. Splash and splash, Curry did just that. He finished with 28 points to edge out Conley by one point.

Curry became the seventh player to win the 3-Point Contest multiple times since the event’s inception in 1986, joining Larry Bird (three times), Craig Hodges (three), Mark Price (twice), Jeff Hornacek (twice), Peja Stojakovic (twice) and Kapono (twice).

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry won the 2021 MTN DEW Three-Point Contest as part of NBA All-Star Sunday Night in Atlanta, becoming the seventh player to win multiple Three-Point Contests since the event’s inception in 1986 and the first to do so in non-consecutive events. Curry, who previously won the event in 2015, joins Larry Bird (3), Craig Hodges (3), Jeff Hornacek (2), Jason Kapono (2), Mark Price (2) and Peja Stojaković (2) as multiple-time Three-Point Contest winners.

After posting an event-record score of 31 points (maximum is 40) in the first round, Curry scored 28 points in the final round, narrowly edging Utah’s Mike Conley (27 points) by hitting his last two shots. Curry is the first Warrior to win the contest since Klay Thompson in 2016, marking the third time a Warrior has won the event in its 35-year history.

Curry, who will make his seventh appearance in the NBA All-Star Game, is averaging a team-high 29.5 points (fourth in the NBA) to go with 6.4 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 1.26 steals in 34.1 minutes over 34 games (all starts) this season. Curry leads the league with 164 three-pointers and is on pace to hit better than 40 percent from three-point range for the 11th time in his career (41.3 percent). A 12-year NBA veteran, Curry moved into second place on the NBA’s all-time three-point field goals made list on Jan. 23 at Utah (now has 2,659 career threes) and has hit a three-pointer in 96-straight games, the third-longest streak in NBA history (he holds the record with a 157-game streak from 2014-16).

Curry has taken part in NBA All-Star Weekend in nine of his previous 11 campaigns, including the Three-Point Contest six times (2010, 2013-16, 2019). He has also taken part in the Shooting Stars Competition (2014 &amp; 2015), the Rising Stars Challenge (2010 &amp; 2011) and the Skills Challenge (won the event in 2011).

Dub Nation has relished the opportunity to watch Stephen Curry grow up in front of their eyes. He joined the team in 2009 as a baby-faced rookie with a high basketball IQ and unlimited range. And as he has blossomed into a superstar, two-time NBA MVP, and three-time NBA Champion, his smooth shooting stroke is at the heart of his success.

Curry has set the NBA record for most 3-pointers in a season three times, splashing 272 treys in 2012-13, 286 in 2014-15 and 402 in 2015-16. He’s had more than three times as many games with at least 10 made 3-pointers (17) than anyone else in league history, and he is the NBA’s all-time leader in career postseason 3-pointers (470).

With all that splashing success, it’s only fitting that Curry will have a history, and a decorated one at that, in the NBA Three-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend. Sunday will mark the seventh time the seven-time All-Star participates in the event, and in true Curry fashion, he has turned in some of the most memorable performances of all time. Keep reading to get caught up on his past performances in the event.

The first shooter to take the court, Stephen Curry got off to a slow start before finishing strong. He made nine of his last 10 shots for a score of 17, but ultimately didn’t advance to the final. Cleveland’s Kyrie Irving would win the competition with a final round score of 23.

A first-time NBA All-Star in 2014, Stephen Curry shot it well on the wings (8-for-10), but struggled on his money-ball rack, which he reserved for his fifth and final shooting station. He made just one of his last five shots, scoring a 16 for the round, which wasn’t enough to reach the final. Former Warriors guard Marco Belinelli would win the shootout, as he knocked off Bradley Beal in the final in a tie-breaking bonus round.

After struggling with the money ball over the previous two years, Stephen Curry took advantage of the extra points, hitting 8-of-9 of his 2-point shots to finish with a first round score of 23. Curry advanced to the final to take on fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson, who led all competitors in the first round with a score of 24 points, and 2013 event champion Kyrie Irving.

In the second round, Curry made history.  He made seven straight shots early in the final and then finished strong with 13-straight makes bridging the third, fourth and fifth racks. That was the second longest streak of made shots in event history, behind only Craig Hodges' legendary performance in 1991 (19 straight makes). Add it all up and Curry finished with a final round score of 27, which at the time was the highest single round total in the event’s history, and that proved to be more than enough to earn him his first victory in the event.

First Round: 24
Second Round: 27 (Won Event)

He was the last competitor to take his turn and he needed to beat a first round score of 20 to guarantee a spot in the Three-Point Contest finals. And because Stephen Curry has a flare for the dramatic, he needed to make his last two money balls on the last rack to join his fellow Splash Brother in the finals. Well, Splash and Splash, and he made it to the final with a first round score of 21.

Curry was eyeing a second straight three-point contest title with a final round score of 23, but teammate Klay Thompson had other ideas. After falling to Curry in the finals in 2015, Thompson rallied late and ended the competition by making five straight money balls to finish with 27, matching Curry’s event record score from the year prior.

With Curry winning the Three-Point Contest in 2015 and Thompson taking it in 2016, the Splash Brothers became the first pair of teammates in NBA All-Star history to win consecutive Three-Point Contests.

Competing in his hometown, Stephen Curry put on a show to remember. He made the final 10 shots of the first round for a score of 27, a single-round event-high for the night. Curry advanced to the finals and in the process won a bet with his brother Seth, a Trail Blazers guard who also competed in the competition, and the younger brother was to pay for all of their family tickets for all future head-to-head matchups in their careers.

The last competitor in the final round, Curry started out as hot as he ended the first. He made his first nine shots, but was chasing Joe Harris’ 26. Curry needed to make his final eight shots to match Harris, but his third shot of the final rack, went in and out, and he fell one money-ball short of the Nets’ sharpshooter.

Talk about clutch shooting! Stephen Curry came out with a huge first round to lead the field with 31 points. But when it came to the last three contestants in the final round, Curry needed to make his last two shots -- corner threes, including his last money ball -- to win the competition. Splash and splash, Curry walked away with his second 3-Point Contest crown.

Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will participate in the 2021 MTN DEW Three-Point Contest on All-Star Sunday at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on March 7, the league announced today. Curry, who won the event in 2015, will make his seventh career appearance in the contest, marking the 10th time in the last 12 years that the Warriors have had at least one player in the Three-Point Contest and the 12th time overall since its inception in 1986.

Curry has taken part in NBA All-Star Weekend in nine of his previous 11 campaigns, including the Three-Point Contest six times (2010, 2013-16, 2019)—winning the event in 2015 before finishing as runner-up to teammate Klay Thompson in 2016. He has also taken part in the Shooting Stars Competition (2014 &amp; 2015), the Rising Stars Challenge (2010 &amp; 2011) and the Skills Challenge (won the event in 2011).

Curry is joined in the Three-Point Contest by Phoenix’s Devin Booker, Boston’s Jaylen Brown, Chicago’s Zach LaVine, Utah’s Donovan Mitchell and Boston’s Jayson Tatum. The 35th Three-Point Contest, as part of All-Star Sunday, will air live on TNT, with coverage beginning at 5 p.m. PT. on Sunday, March 7.

Warriors Guard Stephen Curry to Participate in 2021 Three-Point Contest

  Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been named a starter in the 70th NBA All-Star Game, the league announced today. Curry will make his seventh All-Star Game appearance (all starts), matching Rick Barry’s franchise record for All-Star starts and trailing only Paul Arizin (10 appearances) and Barry (eight) for most All-Star selections in Warriors history. Curry made six consecutive All-Star appearances from 2014-19.

Curry is averaging 30.0 points (second in the NBA), 6.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.21 steals in 34.0 minutes over 29 games (all starts) and leads the league with 145 three-pointers. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player is shooting 49.2 percent from the field, 42.5 percent from three and 93.5 percent from the line. Curry set a new career high with 62 points on January 3 vs. Portland and has hit double-digit three pointers in a pair of games this season, including a season-high 11 threes in a 57-point performance at Dallas on February 6. Following his NBA season-high 62 points, he was named Western Conference Player of the Week (Week 2).

Curry has hit a three-pointer in 91 consecutive games, the fourth-longest streak in NBA history, and matched an NBA record by hitting at least four threes in 13-straight games from January 20 – February 11. On January 23 at Utah, Curry passed Reggie Miller (2,560) for second place on the NBA’s all-time three-point field goals made list.

Curry has taken part in NBA All-Star Weekend festivities in eight of his previous 10 campaigns, averaging 17.0 points, 6.7 assists, 6.0 rebounds, 1.33 steals and 27.8 minutes in his six appearances in the All-Star Game (2014-19). Curry has also participated in the Three-Point Contest six times (2010, 2013-16, 2019)—winning the event in 2015 and finishing as runner-up to teammate Klay Thompson in 2016—in addition to the Shooting Stars Competition (2014 &amp; 2015), the Rising Stars Challenge (2010 &amp; 2011) and the Skills Challenge (won the event in 2011).

The two NBA All-Star captains (LeBron James and Kevin Durant) drafted the eight remaining players from the starter pool in the First Round and then all 14 players from the reserve pool in the Second Round, making selections without regard to a player’s conference affiliation or position. 

The 2021 NBA All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, March 7 at 5 p.m. (PT) in Atlanta. TNT and ESPN Radio will air the game live in the United States. TNT’s NBA All-Star coverage will begin at 2 p.m. PT with TNT NBA Tip-Off presented by CarMax, followed by the Taco Bell® Skills Challenge and MTN DEW® 3-Point Contest starting at 3:30 p.m. PT.  Coverage of the 70th NBA All-Star Game will begin at 5 p.m. PT, with AT&amp;T Slam Dunk taking place at halftime. The game will follow the same format as last year, with the teams competing to win each quarter and playing to a Final Target Score during the untimed fourth quarter.
