In addition to NBA veteran Patrick Beverley, the 76ers also signed 25-year-old 7-footer Mo Bamba – the No. 6 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft – on Sunday.

  • Bamba is a Harlem, New York native who finished his high school basketball career in the Greater Philadelphia Area at Westtown School in West Chester.
    • One of the top-ranked high school players in his class (No. 2 overall by Rivals, No. 3 by ESPN and Scout), Bamba led Westtown School to consecutive state championships as an upperclassman.
  • Bamba arrived at the University of Texas as just the fourth signee in program history to be ranked as one of the nation’s top two recruits (Avery Bradley, Kevin Durant, Myles Turner).
    • In 30 games (29 starts) during his lone season at Texas, he averaged a double-double with 12.9 points and 10.5 rebounds in 30.2 minutes per game.
    • He also swatted 3.7 blocks per contest and was named to the 2018 Big 12 All-Defensive and All-Newcomer teams, along with receiving Second-Team All Big 12 honors.
    • Bamba posted 22 points, 15 rebounds, and a career-high eight blocks against Kansas in Dec. 2017.
  • The Orlando Magic selected Bamba with the No. 6 overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft.
    • At the draft combine, Bamba measured in with a record 7-foot-10 wingspan, since surpassed only by the 7-foot-6 standing Tacko Fall.
  • In 275 career NBA games (82 starts) with Orlando and most recently the Los Angeles Lakers, Bamba holds averages of 7.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game.
    • Bamba shot above 38-percent from 3-point range in each of the past two seasons.
    • He blocked 118 shots during the 2021-22 campaign, tied with Myles Turner and Jakob Poeltl for the fifth most in the NBA.
  • On Jan. 19, 2022, in Philadelphia, Bamba scored a career-high 32 points with seven 3-pointers.
  • The Magic traded Bamba to the Lakers last February in a four-team deal that also included his new 76ers teammate Patrick Beverley going to Orlando, before Beverely signed with Chicago.
    • Bamba played in nine regular season games with Los Angeles and made three appearances in the playoffs.
    • His .387 3-point percentage between Orlando and LA last season marked a new career-high.
