NBA2K Hornets Preview vs Clippers - 2/26/17

Key Matchup vs. Los Angeles Clippers: Marvin Williams vs. Blake Griffin

By Sam Perley, hornets.com

A season-long six-game road trip continues for the Charlotte Hornets as they’ll square off against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night for the second time in their last six outings.
With just 24 games remaining in the regular season, the Hornets will hope to get a similar boost from Marvin Williams just like they did following the All-Star Break in the 2015-16 campaign. Williams put up 13.9 points on 47.1 percent shooting (42.8 percent from three-point range) in the second half of the season last year and has already put up 14.5 points on 50.0 percent shooting, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in his previous two appearances.

Williams and the Hornets will be looking to avoid another big performance from Los Angeles’ Blake Griffin, who nearly put up a triple-double in Charlotte on Feb. 11 with 20 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. A five-time NBA All-Star, Griffin has looked sharp since returning from midseason knee surgery on Jan. 24, posting averages of 23.1 points on 49.8 percent shooting, 8.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.1 steals in 12 total games for the Clippers.

In order to win this second game of a tough back-to-back road set, Williams and the Charlotte Hornets will need to be physical and aggressive with the Los Angeles Clippers’ frontcourt when they collide at Staples Center on Sunday night.
