The Result
Troy Daniels led four Hornets starters in double-digit scoring with 16 points, including four 3-pointers, and added 14 rebounds as Charlotte picked its first victory in the Orlando Summer Pro League, 64-55, over Brooklyn on July 7 in Orlando.

Turning Points
In the week leading up to the Orlando Summer Pro League, Hornets Summer League Head Coach Patrick Ewing stated on more than one occasion after summer league practice that this summer league was for P.J. Hairston, Troy Daniels and Frank Kaminsky. The three players under contract to the Hornets have not only played a major role for Charlotte in Orlando, they were also key to getting the Hornets their first win with a strong close to the first half against Brooklyn. After a Cliff Alexander shot tied things up 34-34 with 2:24 remaining in the half, the Hornets got a Daniels jumper, a bucket from Kaminsky inside, followed by two free throws from Frank the Tank and a free throw from Hairston to string together a 7-0 Charlotte run that pushed the lead to 41-34 at the break. The Hornets would not give up the lead to the Nets the rest of the way as they took their first victory in Orlando.

Inside the Box Score

Troy Daniels had his second-straight strong game from long range, hitting his first three treys on the way to a 16-point effort to lead the Hornets. He finished 4-of-6 from long range and has now shot 10-of-15 (66.7 percent) from long range in the past two games… Big man Brian Qvale had his best game of the summer league, recording the Hornets second double-double of the day with 10 points and 12 rebounds… P.J. Hairston got off to his strongest start thus far in Orlando, hitting his first three attempts of the game on his way to an eight-point, five-rebound, three-assist performance… After being outscored 50-28 in their first two games, Charlotte’s reserves continued to struggle and were outscored by the Brooklyn’s bench, 29-8.

Hornets Player of the Game

Troy Daniels picked up where he left off on Sunday against Memphis, scoring a team-high 16 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-6 from long range. Daniels also added 14 rebounds for his first double-double of the summer.

Nets Player of the Game

Markel Brown scored a team-high 12 points to go with a team-high five rebounds for Brooklyn in a losing effort.

Game Notes
Frank Kaminsky entered the contest tied for 5th in scoring (16.5 points) and second in rebounding (10.0) and was one of only two players, along with the Magic’s Aaron Gordon, to average a double-double in the Orlando Summer League. Kaminsky finished with 11 points, six rebounds and one blocked shot… Aaron Harrison was tied for 12th in scoring (13.0 points), tied for 5th in assists (5.0) and tied for 7th in steals (2.00) in the summer league prior to tipoff. He finished with 11 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks as he continued to fill the stat sheet for Charlotte.
