Warriors Amidst Tight Race in In-Season Tournament's West Group C

Update on Warriors' Standing Halfway Through In-Season Tournament's Group Stage

The Warriors are 1-1 in group play during the inaugural In-Season Tournament, defeating the Thunder in Oklahoma City 141-139 on Nov. 3 in their first-ever tournament game and losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Chase Center 117-114 on Nov. 14. Both one-possession games carried an intensity that the players and coaching staff admitted felt a bit more significant than your typical regular season game.

"We understand that there are consequences associated with those four games that you play in your pool and trying to get to Vegas," Stephen Curry said. "I love it because it gives you an extra sense of urgency early in the year."

WEST GROUP C CHECK-IN
The Sacramento Kings are currently in first place in the West Group C standings with a 2-0 record. Although the Minnesota Timberwolves are also 2-0, the Kings own the tiebreaker due to having the better point differential. Head-to-head record is the first tiebreaker, so the game between the Kings and Timberwolves on Friday will be pivotal. The Warriors are one game behind the Timberwolves and Kings but also trail in the point differential and lost their head-to-head matchup against Minnesota. The Warriors will need to win both of their remaining Group Play games and get some help along the way from other game results, to give themselves the best shot of advancing to the quarterfinals.

The Los Angeles Lakers have an inside track on the first seed in the Western Conference side of the In-Season Tournament bracket. They are the only remaining undefeated team in the West and have the conference's best point differential (+42). A victory on Tuesday against the Utah Jazz can secure them the first seed.
