Warriors' guard Brandin Podziemski was named to the NBA's All-Rookie First Team for the 2023-24 season, the league announced on Monday. Podziemski averaged 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists, becoming the first Warriors rookie since Chris Webber (1993-94) to record at least 600 points, 400 rebounds and 200 assists in a season. He led the team in total rebounds (427) and plus-minus (+264) while leading the league in drawn charges (38).

Podziemski proved&nbsp;to be&nbsp;an all-around threat on both ends of the court as a rookie. His competitive nature,&nbsp;natural&nbsp;instincts&nbsp;and&nbsp;versatile talent were on full display and caught the attention of Splash Brother teammates Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Podziemski worked his way into the starting lineup, having Thompson come off the bench for the first time since his rookie season&nbsp;and&nbsp;both he and Curry were an example to the rookie guard of sustained excellence at the highest level.&nbsp;

As a former all-defensive guard who has provided tremendous value as an off-ball floor spacer throughout his career, Thompson knows the value of impacting the game in ways that may go unnoticed on the individual stat sheet. Defensively, Podziemski displayed tactful positioning, usually being at the right place at the right time. Consistently beating the offensive player to the spot he wanted to get to, the rookie led the league in drawn charges (38) and drew more changes individually than 20 NBA teams. Offensively, in addition to his counting stats, Podziemski was good at organizing the unit, particularly when thrust into primary playmaking responsibilities. Before playing an NBA game, Podziemski described himself as a triple-double threat. In Podziemski's first season with the Dubs, Thompson witnessed his ability to affect the game in a variety of ways at a high level. Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has won the 2023-24 Magic Johnson Award, which honors the NBA player who best combines excellence on the court with cooperation and grace in dealing with the media and fans, the Professional Basketball Writers Association announced today. Curry, who also won the award in 2016, is just the third two-time honoree, joining Damian Lillard (2017, 2020) and Shane Battier (2007,2013).

Curry averaged 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game this season, leading the Warriors to a 46-36 record. Off the court, Curry consistently fostered an atmosphere of mutual respect and openness with reporters who cover the NBA.

Curry was one of five finalists for the award, based on nominations from PBWA members. The others were Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat, DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls, Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers. A vote of the full PBWA membership determined the winner.

The award, created in 2001, is named in honor of Earvin “Magic” Johnson, the former Los Angeles Lakers star, who was consistently engaging, thoughtful and gracious with the media throughout his Hall of Fame career. Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr has won the 2023-24 Rudy Tomjanovich Award, which honors an NBA coach for his cooperation with the media and fans, as well as his excellence on the court, the Professional Basketball Writers Association announced today. Kerr is the Tomjanovich Award's first three-time honoree, having previously won in 2015 and 2018.

This season, Kerr guided the Warriors to a 46-36 record and handled every situation with patience and grace. Kerr is consistently thoughtful and engaging with the media, and generous with his time.

Kerr was one of five finalists for the Tomjanovich award, based on nominations from PBWA members. The others were Chris Finch of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Darvin Ham of the Los Angeles Lakers, Michael Malone of the Denver Nuggets and Jamahl Mosley of the Orlando Magic. A vote of the full PBWA membership determined the winner.

The award is named for Hall of Famer Rudy Tomjanovich, the former coach of the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers, who always was professional and respectful while dealing with the media. During his 13 seasons as an NBA head coach, Tomjanovich compiled a 527-416 regular-season record and a 51-39 postseason record. His Rockets won back-to-back NBA titles in 1994 and 1995.

The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings announced today that they will be partnering to host an expanded dual California Classic Summer League event in both San Francisco and Sacramento this summer. The sixth annual California Classic Summer League will feature three days of game play at Chase Center on July 6, 7 and 10 between the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat. The games at Golden 1 Center on July 6,7 and 9 will feature the Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets. The Summer League will include a total of 12 games featuring primarily rookies selected in the 2024 NBA Draft, along with players competing to make the NBA and G League regular season rosters.

The event will culminate in a final Northern California battle featuring the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings at Chase Center on July 10. Similar to other Summer League matches, modified game play rules will be in place, including 10 minute quarters. In addition, the three days will include exciting family friendly entertainment. Before the games, Chase Center’s Thrive City will host California Classic Fan Fests featuring multiple fan-friendly activities such as carnival games, live music, lawn games, and more. The fan fests are free and open to the public.

Chase Center California Classic multi-day pass presales for Season Ticket Members begin Thursday, May 9 at 10 a.m., with additional Warriors Dub Club Member presales starting at 12 p.m. Warriors Insider Members will have access to tickets beginning Friday, May 10 at 12 p.m.
