2013-14 Player Preview: Shannon Brown

Shannon Brown

At a glance: 6-4, 210 pounds, 27 years old

2012-13 stats: 23.8 minutes, 10.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals per game

How he got here: Signed as a free agent on Dec. 9, 2011

What he brings to the table: Explosive hops and contagious energy, especially in the open floor. Brown has come a long way from his bit player days earlier in his career. A part-time starter last season, Brown will once again be vying for time as part of a deep perimeter rotation. His combination of strength and quickness on both ends of the floor should be one of his biggest assets in that regard.

Goal: Re-establish outside shooting stroke (27.7 percent from deep last season)

Best game as a pro: Dec. 29, 2012 at Minnesota. Efficiency has always been the tell-tale sign with Brown, and against the Timberwolves he was as steady as it gets: 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting, with 14 of those attempts coming inside the three-point arc. Brown added six rebounds and three assists, combining the best of his physical and mental game for one of the most all-around outings of his career.
