2013-14 Player Preview: Miles Plumlee

Miles Plumlee

At a glance: 6-11, 255 pounds, 25 years old

2012-13 stats: 3.9 minutes, 0.9 points, 1.6 rebounds per game

How he got here: Acquired on July 27, 2013, in a trade with the Indiana Pacers

What he brings to the table: The former Duke standout isn't all size, something Suns Head Coach Jeff Hornacek will appreciate. Plumlee runs the floor consistently and exhibits enough energy and mobility around the basket to make a positive impact. He was able to showcase that during the NBA Summer League in Orlando, where he averaged 10 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game.

Goal: Build more momentum as NBA talent (3.9 minutes per game in 2012-13)

Best game as a pro: July 8, 2013 vs. Philadelphia in the NBA Summer League. Plumlee was an absolute beast, punching in with 16 points, 15 rebounds, four blocks and a steal to lead the Pacers in a 96-75 romp. In a setting where everyone is playing to keep NBA dreams alive, the soon-to-be Phoenix Sun made a statement big enough to catch General Manager Ryan McDonough’s attention.
