After a week of facing off against one another in Charleston, the 76ers are ready to face a new opponent.
First up: the Nets, Monday evening in Brooklyn.
Monday’s preseason tipoff comes on the heels of a week of training, bonding, and cultural immersion in Charleston - the team’s first away-from-Philadelphia training camp under Doc Rivers.
“Coming here, it really felt like basketball camp,” Shake Milton reflected after the team’s final training camp practice on Sunday. “Go away with your friends and hoop.”
“It’s been basketball, which everybody loves, and then kicking it with the guys at the hotel. It’s been fun.”
For Milton - among others - the consensus favorite day was the team’s cultural tour of the city, which included stops at The Old Slave Mart Museum, the soon-to-open International African American Museum, and The Avery Research Center.
“That was my favorite day,” Rivers said of the team’s tour.
“It was powerful, it was moving, it was deep,” Milton added. “I feel like it was something everybody needed to see.”
James Harden agrees.
“I’ve never had the opportunity to make it down to Charleston,” Harden said. “So it was an opportunity to learn about the history, learn about the background of this town, and all the things that it has been through, and the culture it created.”
Following their trip to Brooklyn, the Sixers will host the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday at The Center. The team will then visit Cleveland on Oct. 10, and host Charlotte on Oct. 12 to close its preseason slate.

The Brooklyn Nets will also play their first preseason game Monday, hosting the Sixers.
Headlined by All-Star trio Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons, the Nets finished 7th in the Eastern Conference last season, falling in the first round of the playoffs to the Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics.
