Pre-Draft Workout #7

In preparation for the 2023 NBA Draft on June 22, the Charlotte Hornets hosted a pre-draft workout on Saturday, June 3 featuring the following players:

Leaky Black (G, North Carolina)

This Concord, NC native averaged 7.3 points on 41.1% shooting, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 33 starts as a fifth-year senior for his home state Tar Heels this past season. Black (6-8, 195) is a two-time member of the ACC All-Defensive team (2022 and 2023) and was runner-up for the 2023 ACC Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Marcus Carr (G, Texas)

Carr (6-2, 195) put up 15.9 points on 42.8% shooting – 36.8% from 3-point range – 3.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals in 38 starts this past season, leading to First-Team All-Big 12 honors. Originally from Toronto, ON, he spent his freshman year at Pittsburgh (2017-18) before transferring to Minnesota (2018-21; redshirted the 2018-19 season) and then Texas.

Nate Laszewski (F, Notre Dame)

Laszewski (6-10, 227) tallied 13.7 points on 50.9% shooting – 39.2% from 3-point range – 7.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 32 starts as a fifth-year senior at Notre Dame. A two-time team captain, he helped lead the Fighting Irish to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 2017, while garnering All-ACC Honorable Mention honors.

Osun Osunniyi (F, Iowa State)

A three-time All-Atlantic 10 Conference honoree, Osunniyi (6-10, 220) averaged 8.2 points on 57.7% shooting, 3.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 blocks in 33 games (29 starts) as a fifth-year senior at Iowa State. He spent his first four seasons at St. Bonaventure, where he was named a two-time Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and four-time Atlantic 10 All-Defense.

Marcus Sasser (G, Houston)

This consensus First-Team All-American recorded 16.8 points on 43.8% shooting – 38.4% from 3-point range – 2.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.6 steals in 36 starts his senior season at Houston. Sasser (6-1, 190) was named the 2023 American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and the 2023 Jerry West Award winner, given to the top shooting guard in Division I.

Hunter Tyson (F, Clemson)

Tyson (6-8, 215) averaged 15.3 points on 47.9% shooting – 40.5% from 3-point range – 9.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 34 starts this past season as fifth-year senior at Clemson. Named to the 2023 All-ACC First Team, he recently attended both the NBA G League Elite Camp and NBA Draft Combine and played high school basketball at Piedmont High School in Monroe, NC.
