Charlotte Hornets Sign Amari Bailey To Two-Way Contract

Bailey was the 41st overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft

July 14, 2023 – President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today the Hornets have signed Amari Bailey to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.

A member of the 2022-23 Pac-12 All-Freshman Team, the 6-5 Bailey averaged 11.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 30 games played at UCLA, increasing those numbers to 17.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists in six postseason games between the Pac-12 and NCAA Tournaments.

During his high school career at Sierra Canyon School, he was named California Mr. Basketball as a junior in 2020-21 and a McDonald’s High School All-American as a senior in 2021-22.

Bailey was selected in the second round (41st overall) in the 2023 NBA Draft on June 22. He will wear No. 17 for the Hornets. In six summer league games with the Hornets, he has averaged 8.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 14.6 minutes per game.
