Hornets Host 10th Annual Cool School Field Trip

The Charlotte Hornets partnered with Jordan Brand to focus on educating students about the repercussions of bullying when the Hornets hosted the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday, October 15 during the 10th annual Cool School Field Trip.

For the second consecutive year, the theme of this game was “Too Cool to Bully” and was be attended by more than 15,000 area middle school students. For the fifth-straight year, the game was presented by Jordan Brand, who helped provide each student with a custom Cool School flash drive preloaded with bullying awareness, education and prevention materials.

During the game, all students in attendance received lunch courtesy of McAlister’s Deli, the official lunch provider of the Hornets annual Cool School Field Trip preseason game. The Hornets also awarded select CMS middle school students with an opportunity to shadow various departments with specific game day activations during the event. Students were paired with Hornets staff and received a behind-the-scenes look into what it takes to successfully facilitate an NBA game.

Through the annual Cool School Field Trip, the Charlotte Hornets and the Charlotte Hornets Foundation host over 15,000 middle school students for a day of celebration and curriculum-based activities. This event, which has impacted more than 135,000 middle school students during its nine years, is designed to reward students who excel in school by demonstrating outstanding performance, character and service in the classroom.

Each year, the goal is to fill Time Warner Cable Arena with deserving students, teachers and administrators and reward them for a job well done.
