And as quickly as they came, the preseason matchups are done and over with for the Dubs. Regardless of the final results over the five exhibition games, the Warriors demonstrated their ability to bring a new squad together and work as a functioning unit.

But before we roll into the regular season with Opening Night at Chase Center on Thursday, let’s take one last look at the top plays of the 2019 preseason!

Curry for 40
In an electric performance on October 10, Stephen Curry splashed his way to 40 points on 6-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

D-Lo Dime
D’Angelo Russell is known to be crafty, and Dub Nation got to see it on Wednesday in Los Angeles. At one point, he headed into a trap set by three Lakers… but keep your eye on the ball.

Air Chriss
Marquese Chriss turned his invitation to camp into a regular season roster spot with the Dubs after proving he has the skills and ability to help on both ends of the floor. Case in point: the pick-and-roll with Russell on Wednesday. The dunk is pretty nice too.

Poole Party
You can say he is the “Splash Nephew,” or he has an “overdose of swag.” Either way, Dub Nation got to watch first-round pick Jordan Poole in action at his first game in Chase Center on October 5 as he was left open after hustling to his spot in transition.

Curry on the Boards
He may have been getting buckets this preseason, but Curry also did some work on the glass against the Lakers on October 14, as shown by an offensive rebound he inhaled over the 6-foot-11-inch Dwight Howard and 6-foot-5-inch Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Result: a quick two points in the paint.

GR3’s Steal-and-Slam
Coming into camp, Robinson III said he was happy to fill-in for the injured Klay Thompson on defense. Keeping his eyes on the passing lane and taking the ball down court for the dunk against the Timberwolves certainly did the trick.

Russell with the Handles
Between the legs into a little hesitation move against Minnesota… Russell brought some slick moves with him to the Bay Area.

Teamwork Making the Dream Work
With a relatively new squad only having two weeks to come together and prepare for the regular season, there were questions about how well the Dubs would jive on the hardwood. Well…

But now we put the past behind us and get ready for the main attraction. Next up for the Warriors: the 2019-20 NBA season!

Rookie Jordan Poole has continued his solid start to his rookie campaign with his third double-digit scoring game out of four games with a 14-point outing on Wednesday in Los Angeles; rookie class-mate Eric Paschall is also getting primed for next week’s Opening Night after playing 24 minutes per game through the first four games.

Camp invitee Marquese Chriss has possibly worked his way onto the roster and into the rotation with the Warriors after posting averages of 9.5 points on 60.9 percent shooting from the field, 8.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks. Though there will be adjustments when big men Kevon Looney and Willie Cauley-Stein make their season debuts, Chriss may have been too productive for the Warriors to let go. And if the Warriors do keep him, that means they’ll have to waive somebody else.

The Dubs will take on the Lakers for the fourth and final time of the preseason; and much like the Warriors, Los Angeles has been tinkering with their lineup as they try to determine who joins All-Stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis in their starting lineup for the regular season. Veteran centers JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard have both had strong moments through the preseason, but Head Coach Frank Vogel has rotated the two in the starting rotation through their preseason games. Also in the mix for their starting five at the guard spots have been Rajon Rondo, Danny Green, Avery Bradley and Kentavious Cladwell-Pope.

The Warriors take on the Lakers in the second of three preseason games against their SoCal rivals this week.

The preseason rolls on Wednesday night as the Dubs and Lakers suit-up for their second of three consecutive games against each other this week. Both teams sat some key players in their previous matchup on Monday, and Wednesday’s game will provide another chance to see the young talent at work on both teams.

The Dubs are expected to have D’Angelo Russell and Draymond Green back in action, while Stephen Curry will catch some rest after starting the previous three games. Curry has led the team in scoring two of the three games (averaging 25 points per game through the preseason), leaving room for others to make their mark on Wednesday. Curry's brother-in-law tallied a team-high 18 points in Monday's defeat, and rookie Jordan Poole had 17- and 19-point performances over the squad's first two outings.

Also still up for the taking with the Dubs is the starting small forward role. Glenn Robinson had his second consecutive start Monday in the forward slot where he posted five points and two rebounds after a 13-point, 5-rebound night Thursday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Alfonzo McKinnie has picked up where he left off last season with some tenacious work on the boards, averaging almost six rebounds a game through the Dubs’ exhibition games.

The Lakers have been dealing with a variety of injuries this preseason, including a sprained thumb for Anthony Davis and sore calf for former Dub Quinn Cook. However, according to the team’s latest injury report, both have a chance of playing against the Warriors Wednesday night. Davis leads the team with 14.7 point per game through the first three of Los Angeles’ games, but missed Monday’s tilt due to the thumb injury, while Cook looks to get his first minutes of the preseason sometime this week against his former team. Both will potentially be reinserted to a rotation that is trying to determine which guards — including Avery Bradly, Rajon Rondo, Danny Green, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope -- and center (JaVale McGee or Dwight Howard) will start alongside Davis and LeBron James.

The preseason rematch is set between the Warriors and Lakers as the squad travels down to Los Angeles for the second of their four exhibition games against their Southern California rival. The initial match-up did not go the Warriors’ way as they dropped their first game of the series 123-101. But after a 20-point win over the Minnesota Timberwolves (143-123) fueled by a Stephen Curry 40-point effort, the Dubs look to be back on track.

As the preseason continues for the Dubs, here are a few things to watch while the team plays on Monday night:

Rooks running the Dubs bench
First-round draft pick Jordan Poole has continued his hot shooting from Summer League into the Dubs’ preseason thus far; he dropped 17 points against the Lakers in their first preseason matchup, then followed that up with a 19-point outing against the Timberwolves Thursday. Between the two games, he is shooting at a 43.8% clip from beyond the arc (7-for-16) and has led the Dubs’ bench in scoring in both contests. Dub Nation would be keen to keep an eye on how Head Coach Steve Kerr implements the “Splash Nephew.”

Speaking of Dubs rookies, Eric Paschall has seemingly enjoyed his preseason as well: the former NCAA Champion has posted 11 points and three rebounds in each of the two games. He will look to keep-up the consistency as he walks onto the hardwood at Staples Center.

Options at the Forward and Center spots
The Warriors have started different players at the small forward and center positions in the previous exhibition games, and each responded well in their role. Alfonzo McKinnie (seven points, six rebounds, and one block) and Omari Spellman (six points, nine rebounds) drew the start against the Lakers in their first matchup, while Glenn Robinson III (13 points, five rebounds) and Marquese Chriss (eight points, 11 rebounds, four assists) got the nod against the Timberwolves. Of note thus far has been Chriss’ ability to do a little bit of everything: in 39 minutes between the two games, he has averaged 8.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.5 steals, and 1.0 blocks.

With big men Kevon Looney, Willie Cauley-Stein and Alen Smailagić sidelined with injuries, the opportunity is there for other bigs to take advantage of some extended playing time. Outside of Curry, D’Angelo Russell and Draymond Green, there remains a lot to be figured out in terms of roles, player rotations and how minutes will be distributed. Perhaps we’ll start to get those answers in these next three preseason games with the Lakers, the first of which is coming up on Monday.

Preseason basketball is officially underway! Though the Dubs suffered a loss at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers in their first-ever game at Chase Center, the squad had almost a week of practice going into Thursday’s preseason matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves

It may be just early October, but there is much to watch coming into the Warriors’ second preseason game. We have five reasons why Dub Nation should be hyped for Thursday’s matchup:

1. First 10,000 fans receive a giveaway item!
Nothing says “Welcome to San Francisco” quite like a cable car, and the first 10,000 fans at Chase Center on Thursday will receive a Dubs cable car. Destination: 1 Warriors Way! Details and tickets can be found here.

2. Root-on the rooks
The Dubs rookies will look to carry their momentum from Saturday into Thursday’s matchup against the Timberwolves. Jordan Poole dropped 17 points including 4-of-9 from three-point range, while Eric Paschall added 11 points and three rebounds. Juan Toscano-Anderson (four points), a native of the Bay Area, also made his debut on the NBA hardwood in front of his hometown crowd. All three will continue to look for ways to compete with the seasoned vets to claim playing time for the squad. And speaking of competition…

3. Minutes at small forward still up for grabs
Alfonzo McKinnie drew the start at the small forward position for the Dubs in Saturday’s game and posted a solid line of seven points, six rebounds and two assists to go along with a block in 21 minutes. However, there remains some question as to how the minutes and rotation at the position will shake out. Paschall said he is willing to play the part, and there may be an opportunity for Marquese Chriss (eight points, six rebounds, four assists in 14 minutes Saturday) to slide over there. Toscano-Anderson and Glenn Robinson III (four points, three rebounds, two assists, one block) have played in that slot a majority of their careers, too.

Head Coach Steve Kerr spoke of the situation on Tuesday and said of the race for playing time: “It’s way to soon to talk about anything that’s going to happen Opening Night. We got to let Camp play out… They’re all competing, they’re all good players.” Keep watching who plays where and when; this competition is likely to heat-up Thursday.

4. Jordan Bell returns to the Bay Area
Former Dub Jordan Bell will make his first appearance since signing with Minnesota over the offseason. He stepped-up in a big way for the Warriors while the team dealt with injuries during last season’s playoffs, especially in the Western Conference Finals where he averaged a solid 6.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists while nabbing 0.8 steals and 0.5 blocks in the team’s sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers. Dub Nation will be sure to welcome him back to the Bay Area when he steps onto the floor.

5. Who will fill in at center?
With Willie Cauley-Stein, Kevon Looney and Alen Smailagic rehabbing minor injuries, the Dubs are in search of help at the pivot spot. Omari Spellman started there Saturday, and other Dubs including Chriss and Paschall filled-in behind him. But how will newly signed Kavion Pippen fit in? Keep an around the paint to see how the Dubs’ bigs play and handle the opportunity to play at the five.

Less than 33 months after the first shovel hit dirt along 3rd Street in the Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco, the Golden State Warriors will play their first game at Chase Center this Saturday when they take on the Lakers in the preseason opener for both teams.

The homecoming will be a strong exclamation point on a week that began with Media Day on Monday and continued with four days of practice during Training Camp, Fueled by Gatorade. And after the first three days of practice took place in the Biofreeze Performance Center, located within Chase Center, the Dubs practiced Friday on the same floor they’ll take Saturday evening against Los Angeles.

“(There has) been so many concerts, events and stuff, so Chase (Center) has been buzzing for a while, but from a basketball perspective, it’s going to be our first chance to kind of enjoy the atmosphere, enjoy the new sights and get used to a game day in San Francisco. I’m excited about it,” Stephen Curry said. “We’ll work out the kinks and October 24th, it’ll be on and poppin.’”

Twenty players have participated in practice with the Dubs this week. Among them are key returners including Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney, along with 13 would-be first-year Warriors. Highlighting the new class of Dubs is D’Angelo Russell, who the Dubs acquired from Brooklyn in a deal that sent Kevin Durant to the Nets. The 23-year-old guard is coming off of an All-Star season in Brooklyn in which he set career-highs in scoring (21.1), field goal percentage (43.4), three-pointers made (2.9), three-point percentage (36.9) and assists (7.0).

“Man, I'm so excited. I'm trying to act like I've been here before, like I'm -- like this cool, 10-year vet. But no, this is so cool to me to play with Steph, Klay, Draymond, all those guys, to be able to be around Steve Kerr and his coaching staff, as well. I think it's just a luxury,” Russell said. “I played with them the first time last week, and I literally called my dad, my brother, and I was just like, ‘Yo, this is about to be so fun.’ So just being able to do that throughout the year and just being able to be a sponge to everything these guys are teaching and bouncing off me, I'm more than excited to do it.”

Saturday’s game will mark the beginning of a new era for the Dubs. A new building in a new city and a team with several new faces, but not all of them will be in uniform on Saturday. Thompson will be out until at least the All-Star Break as he recovers from a knee injury suffered in Game 6 of the NBA Finals, and center Willie Cauley-Stein’s Dubs debut will be delayed as he recovers from a left foot strain. Looney (hamstring) and Alen Smailagic (ankle) are also expected to miss Saturday’s game.

Although definitely not ideal, those injuries create opportunities for other Warriors who have been able to compete for playing time, and possibly a spot in the starting five, during this week’s training camp.

The journey is just getting started for the 2019-20 Warriors, but the first step of this marathon is certainly an exciting one. As Curry said, time to get it poppin’!

They were drafted by the Warriors just over three months ago, but rookies Jordan Poole and Eric Paschall have been thrown into the proverbial fire quickly as they prepare for their first minutes in the NBA.

Jordan Poole on what he’s learning in training camp:
“Chemistry, more than anything: being able to play with a lot of new guys, figuring out everybody’s tendencies… there’s a lot being thrown at us, but it’s nothing we haven’t been through before.”

Eric Paschall on the leadership of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green:
“They’re helping to look-out for all the young guys. Having that and being able to actually play with them now is actually very cool, too.”

The Golden State Warriors will hold their 2019 Training Camp, fueled by Gatorade, at the Biofreeze Performance Center in San Francisco, beginning Tuesday, October 1, it was announced today.

The team also announced the signing of the following free agents: guards Andrew Harrison and Devyn Marble along with forward Juan Toscano-Anderson.

Harrison, 24, appeared in 17 games during the 2018-19 NBA season, posting 3.2 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 11.0 minutes per game with the Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans. The Kentucky product was originally selected by the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft (44th overall) before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in a draft-night deal. He appeared in 46 games (45 starts) for the Iowa Energy of the NBA G League during the 2015-16 season, averaging 18.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.5 steals in 18.5 minutes per game. The Texas native saw action in seven postseason contests with Memphis, averaging 6.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 19.8 minutes per game during the 2017 NBA playoffs.

Marble, 27, has seen action in 44 career NBA contests (seven starts), averaging 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10.4 minutes per game over two seasons with the Orland Magic. He was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the second round (56th overall) of the 2014 NBA Draft before being dealt to the Orlando Magic on draft night. The Michigan native spent two seasons with the Erie Bayhawks, the G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, posting averages of 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals in 30.9 minutes per game.

Toscano-Anderson, 26, appeared in 44 games (16 starts) with the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Golden State Warriors’ G League affiliate, posting averages of 7.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals in 23.8 minutes per game during the 2018-19 season. The Oakland native also saw action for the Warriors during the 2019 California Classic and NBA Summer Leagues. As a senior at Marquette, the forward averaged 8.3 points on a career-best 49.0 percent from the field, 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.13 steals in 28.5 minutes per game over 31 contests (27 starts) for the Golden Eagles.

Following four days of practice, the Warriors will open their preseason schedule with the first-ever game at Chase Center in San Francisco, on Saturday, October 5, against the Los Angeles Lakers.
