ONE OF TWO ROOKIES TO RECORD AT LEAST SIX CONSECUTIVE GAMES OF 18-PLUS POINTS IN 2024-25
LONE UNDRAFTED ROOKIE TO PRODUCE MULTIPLE 25-POINT GAMES LAST SEASON
PHILADELPHIA — JULY 7, 2025 — Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced today that the team has re-signed Justin Edwards. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Justin’s growth and versatility were on full display last season as a rookie, and we’re excited to see his progression continue in a 76ers uniform,” said Morey. “His natural shooting ability combined with his athleticism and defensive toughness make him very valuable to what we as an organization are trying to accomplish both now and in the future.”
Edwards, who signed a standard contract with the 76ers on Feb. 9 after originally joining the organization on a two-way contract as an undrafted free agent, averaged 10.1 points on 45.5-percent shooting (36.3% 3FG), 3.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.0 steal, and 26.3 minutes played in 44 games (26 starts) throughout his rookie campaign in 2024-25. He produced double-digit scoring on 21 occasions and reached the 20-point mark three times last season, including a pair of career-high 25-point performances (Jan. 14 vs. OKC, March 21 at SAS). The 21-year-old was one of 10 rookies – and the lone undrafted first-year player of the group – to produce multiple games of 25-plus points.
The Philadelphia native shined during his rookie campaign with the 76ers, ending the season as one of only two first-year players to notch at least six consecutive games of 18-plus points (9 – Jared McCain, Nov. 8-24). Edwards averaged 20.3 points on 48.9-percent shooting (47.5% 3FG) during that stretch, which spanned from March 17-26. The sixth and final game of that streak also paved way to his first career double-double – a 19-point (9-15 FG), 10-rebound performance against Washington on March 26.
Edwards accumulated 445 points, 148 rebounds, 69 assists, 45 steals, and 16 blocks in 1,155 minutes last season, making him one of eight rookies to tally such numbers in 2024-25.
Prior to signing with the 76ers, Edwards spent his lone collegiate season at Kentucky, averaging 8.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 32 games. He also led Philadelphia’s Imhotep Charter High School to consecutive Pennsylvania State titles in his junior and senior seasons from 2021-23.
