Friday Facts: Josh Richardson

Josh Richardson sat down with HEAT.com after a recent practice to discuss his off-court interests and other things people may not know about him.

Who was your favorite player growing up?

Scottie Pippen.

What is a moment in your life that shaped you?

My junior year of college [when] my coach told me to take basketball more seriously.

What’s your most memorable high school or AAU game?

Probably getting nine scholarship offers in one tournament in Los Angeles my junior year. I got nine in one day, actually.

You must’ve tore it up there.

Yeah, I had a good tournament.

What’s your favorite TV Show or Movie?

Impractical Jokers.

What would you be if you weren’t a basketball player?

I’d be in medical school or I’d be a rock star. One of the two.

Who are the top three musicians in your rotation?

Glass Animals, Childish Gambino and Jeremih.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

My phone.

What is your favorite type of food?

Nachos or Mexican food.

What is your favorite workout/drill?

I like to shoot spot-up threes.

What was your favorite subject in school?

Science.

What is your favorite sport outside of basketball?

Soccer.

Do you have a favorite team?

Arsenal.

What was your most memorable experience on the court as a professional basketball player?

Watching D. Wade and Charlotte during Game 6 last year. I was a fan that game. At the end of that game, I was like, ‘Yeah, D. Wade, yeah, yeah, woo!’

What would you like to do once your playing career is over?

I want to go back to school and get my physical therapy degree.

What was the first thing you bought once you received your first NBA check?

A big old bean bag.

Really?

Yeah.

Was it a HEAT one or was it just a plain one?

It’s called Lovesac and it’s like six feet around.

Where did you buy it at?

Off the internet.

Was this something you had planned?

Yeah. Oh definitely. Since college, I told myself I was going to buy it.

What was your most unusual experience with a fan?

In college I signed some kid’s hand, and I saw him the next week at a game and my signature was still on his hand. I was like, ‘Did you wash your hands?’ He’s like, ‘Oh nah, I’m not washing this hand.’ I was like, ‘Alright, man. Whatever.’

Who are three historical figures you’d like to have lunch with?

Martin Luther King Jr., Jesus and Basquiat.

What is your favorite car that you've ever owned?

Probably my Challenger.

What’s your favorite outdoor activity?

I like fishing [and] I like people watching.
