HEAT Host Spurs In Preseason Opener

Now with camp in the rearview mirror, the HEAT will get their first crack at a different opponent when they host the Spurs Tuesday night at AmericanAirlines Arena at 7:30 PM.

We’ve yet to see Miami in legitimate action, but Jimmy Butler and Meyers Leonard showed what they could do in the Red, White & Pink Game on Sunday afternoon. In particular, Butler did his thing on both ends, while Leonard stretched the floor and drilled four treys. Furthermore, the HEAT’s stalwarts in Justise Winslow, Bam Adebayo and Duncan Robinson also balled out and stayed true to what’s made them successful.

The Spurs, on the other hand, opened preseason with a 125-89 loss to the Magic on Saturday night. And while San Antonio had trouble stopping Orlando in transition, Bryn Forbes made his presence felt with 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including 5-of-6 from deep, and Dejounte Murray looked sharp in his return to action. Keep in mind that DeMar DeRozan, Patty Mills, DeMarre Carroll, Marco Belinelli and Trey Lyles all rested. Their status for Tuesday remains to be seen.

INJURY/STATUS UPDATE: Kelly Olynyk (Right Knee Bruise) is out for Miami. Trey Lyles (Rest) is out for San Antonio.
