Tis’ the season to spread holiday cheer and that is exactly what your Miami HEAT did at two local children’s hospital’s on December 12th. The Miami HEAT teamed up with presenting sponsor FedEx Express and supporting sponsor FOX Sports Sun to host the HEAT Holiday Hospital Visits at Baptist Children’s Hospital and Holtz Children’s Hospital at UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
“This game is a beautiful game but our lives are bigger than basketball,” said Justise Winslow. “To be able to come here and see these families, to see these kids and bring a little joy, it means a lot to them and it means a lot to us.”
Smiles were abundant as HEAT players and HEAT staff joined Burnie to distribute gifts generated from a HEAT Group Toy Drive, including a donation of toys made by Hasbro. Gifts also included wireless headphones provided by JBL, Papa John’s Pizza gift cards, FOX Sports Sun branded stress balls and coupons for Outshine frozen fruit bars. HEAT players & talent unloaded toys off a FedEx Express special delivery truck, and were escorted to the Children’s wing where they went room to room handing out toys. Half of the team visited Baptist Children’s Hospital including children in the Miami Cancer Institute, and the other half visited Holtz Children’s Hospital at UM/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
