HEAT Sign Vincent Grier

MIAMI, July 8th - The Miami HEAT announced today that they have signed guard Vincent Grier. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Grier played two seasons at the University of Minnesota after transferring from Dixie State Junior College and UNC-Charlotte. While at Minnesota, Grier appeared in 57 games and averaged 16.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.12 steals. He was named to the 2006 Senior All-America Second Team from the Bayer Advantage Senior Class Award, the 2006 NABC All-District Second Team and the 2006 All-Big Ten Third Team. As a senior, he appeared in 25 games and averaged 15.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.32 steals while leading the Big Ten in steals per game, finishing eighth in the Big Ten for scoring average per game and 10th in rebounding average per game. He recorded 58 total steals which is eighth-best in school history during a single-season and posted a seven-steal game which is the fourth most for a single game in school history. Grier finished his career at Minnesota totaling 121 steals and posting a 16.9 point per game average which both rank 10th all-time in school history.

While at Dixie State Junior College, Grier was named to the Region 18 All-Region Team, the All-Scenic Western Athletic Conference Team and was a member of the SWAC All-Tournament Team after he averaged 17.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.30 steals.

Grier also appeared in 29 games (two starts) at UNC-Charlotte and averaged 5.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.14 steals while shooting a team-high 52.0 percent (64-of-123) from the field.
