HEAT Aquire Rights to Justin Hamilton

MIAMI, June 29 – The Miami HEAT announced today that they have acquired the draft rights to center Justin Hamilton (45th overall) and a future conditional first round pick from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for the draft rights to forward Arnett Moultrie (27th overall).

Hamilton appeared in 96 collegiate games (81 starts) and averaged 7.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 21.8 minutes while shooting 53.5 percent from the field and 74.1 percent from the foul line. He played one season at Louisiana State University (2011-12) after transferring from Iowa State University (2008-10).

Last season at LSU, Hamilton appeared in 33 games (32 starts) and averaged 12.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.30 blocks and 30.0 minutes while shooting 49.4 percent from the field and 78.1 percent from the foul line. He earned All-District (USBWA) First Team honors and was named to the All-SEC and NABC All-District Second Teams. He registered six 20-point games and posted four double-doubles. As a sophomore at Iowa State University (2009-10), Hamilton shot 61.7 percent, the fourth-highest single-season percentage in school history while blocking 33 shots, second-most on the team.
