HEAT Learn & Play Center Opening: Robert King High Park

The Miami HEAT celebrated the opening of its 16th Learn & Play Center at Robert King High Park. The new Learn & Play Center, refurbished in partnership with presenting sponsor and longtime HEAT community partner Florida Blue, provides youth with a safe place to play and resources to help them explore their academic interests.

Following a press conference that kicked off the event, HEAT player, Josh Richardson, and HEAT Legend, Alonzo Mourning, interacted with students and their families in the new Learn & Play Center. The HEAT renovated the computer lab, classroom, and recreation area at Robert King High Park by enhancing the rooms with new paint, wall graphics, foosball table, board games, video game console, furniture and a 55-inch television donated by Acordis International Corp.

Robert King High Park is a City of Miami Parks and Recreation facility that houses an after school program along with camps during summer, winter break and spring break for local children. Its sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids (SPARK) programming promotes 30 to 60 minutes of quality, daily physical activities for youth. SPARK fosters environmental and behavioral change by providing physically active curriculum, on-site teacher training, follow-up support, and equipment.
