Senior Vice President / Chief, People & Inclusion Officer

Sonia Harty began her career with the HEAT Organization in 2003. In her current role of Senior Vice President, Chief People & Inclusion Officer, her responsibilities include spearheading all human capital, diversity and inclusion initiatives to build a culture that attracts, develops and retains diverse talent. Her focus includes aligning human capital strategies with business objectives while delivering all the functional elements of human capital such as Talent Acquisition and Retention, Performance Management, Succession Planning, Compensation and Benefits Strategy, Training and Development and Employee Relations and Compliance initiatives. Sonia collaborates with organizational leaders to shape and refine the culture and employee experience while leading the company’s diversity, equity and inclusion strategies, both internally and externally.

Harty’s role has quickly expanded since first joining the HEAT as Compensation and Benefits Manager in 2003. Later that year, she was promoted to Director of Human Resources, spending three years in that capacity before being elevated to Vice President, Human Resources in 2006. She was elevated to her current role of Senior Vice President, Chief People & Inclusion Officer in 2021.

In addition to her duties at the HEAT, Harty is also a member of the National Society for Human Resource Management, the Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management and Hospitality Human Resource Association.

Harty earned her bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Maryland before receiving her Master of Science in human resources at American University in Washington, D.C.
