The Chicago Bulls have officially wrapped up the Season of Giving – taking time to give back and spread holiday joy throughout Chicago. Amidst game days, practices and team travel, the Bulls organization, including each player, gave their time and resources to support youth and families during the holiday season.&nbsp;&nbsp;

From financial donations to providing families with winter and holiday essentials and even creating special game day experiences, the Bulls prioritized opportunities that support the ongoing mission of community violence prevention through education, health and wellness, access to opportunities and community investment.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Supporting Families for a Food-Filled, Worry-Free Holiday&nbsp;

In preparation for Thanksgiving, Dalen Terry, Jevon Carter and Zach LaVine delivered food and provided families with winter and holiday necessities. Carter and his foundation, Treadmill Mentality Foundation, hosted two different initiatives supplying 250 youth with winter essentials and 10 families with groceries and additional Jewel-Osco gift cards. In collaboration with the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Blackhawks, Levy and the Chicago Housing Authority, the United Center hosted its second annual Ham Jam – welcoming more than 450 total people and distributing meals to more than 150 local families.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bringing the Holiday Cheer to Chicago Youth&nbsp;

And we were just getting started. The entire team hosted a 3 on 3 basketball tournament with 30 students from South Loop Elementary school, teaching them the importance of teamwork, basketball fundamentals and a once in a lifetime experience. Each student left the Advocate Center with basketball shoes, Bulls gear and tickets to the Bulls game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Later that evening, Torrey Craig took 20 youth from the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago to Build-A-Bear. Carter and Treadmill Mentality Foundation recently hosted a winter wonderland holiday party for 50 youth at The Firehouse Dream, providing a safe space for youth to celebrate the holidays.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Season of Giving wouldn’t be possible without the support and partnership of our valuable non-profit and community partners who help make a difference in our city year-round. Chicago Bulls Spread Joy to More Than 1000 Youth and 60 Families during Season of Giving 

Chicago Bull Jevon Carter continues to spread cheer throughout the season of giving.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Last week, he delivered 250 coats to students at a local elementary school. This past weekend, he helped 10 families prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday with a grocery shopping trip to Jewel-Osco.&nbsp;&nbsp;

For some Chicagoland families, the holidays can be more of a financial burden than a joyful season - a time when extra support is essential. The Bulls, Jewel-Osco and Jevon Carter’s Treadmill Mentality Foundation partnered with Featherfist, a non-profit dedicated to ending homelessness in Chicago, to identify families in need. Each family received a $500 gift card to Jewel-Osco.

“Our goal was to help families in need and minimize their worry or stress throughout the rest of the year and holiday season,” said Carter. “Growing up in Chicago, it’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of – coming back to play for the Bulls and now being in a position where I can give back and show them that there's someone that looks just like them and encourage them to keep dreaming. I love being able to give back to the community and connecting with the families.”&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Carter connected with each family while bagging groceries, helped families pick out their items and even surprised each family with an additional Jewel-Osco gift card, furthering their commitment to offering community support beyond this event.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Featherfist has been working to end homelessness in Chicago since 1984. Featherfist assists homeless individuals, veterans, families and others in need in discovering the “power & purpose” to change their lives. Through resources such as stable housing, case management, training and connection to benefits, Featherfirst guides those in need toward self-sufficiency.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Together, Featherfist, the Treadmill Mentality Foundation, the Bulls and Jewel-Osco believe in community investment by providing those in need with access to more resources and opportunities that encourage a safe space for all. Providing families with a shopping trip in preparation for the holidays allows them to spend time together without worrying about where their next meal is coming from. The program aligns with the Chicago Bulls ongoing commitment to preventing community violence through education, community investment, health and wellness and opportunity access.&nbsp;
