Warriors Fall Just Short Despite Stephen Curry's Fourth Quarter Takeover

Curry Scores 16 of Game-High 33 Points in 4th Quarter

The Warriors' fourth quarter comeback fell just short in their 114-109 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans at Chase Center on Friday. The Dubs outscored the Pelicans by eight points in the fourth quarter but surrendered 45 points in a pivotal second quarter. Stephen Curry scored 16 of his game-high 33 points in the fourth quarter leading a late Warriors rally.

TJD DUNKS SPARK EARLY RUN
Trayce Jackson-Davis had two momentum-shifting dunks in the first quarter during a 17-4 run. First, Jackson-Davis caught an alley-oop off the glass from Draymond Green and threw it down. Nearly a minute later, Stephen Curry dimed him up with a timely look-away bounce pass, which he flushed with his dominant left hand. Jackson-Davis was a plus-11 in his seven first-quarter minutes.

Jackson-Davis finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season.

PELICANS' EXPLOSIVE SECOND QUARTER
The Pelicans were on fire from distance in the second quarter, scoring 45 points and hitting 10 3-pointers in the frame. CJ McCollum and Trey Murphy combined to hit eight of those 10 triples. New Orleans nearly eclipsed the Warriors' first-half point total in the second quarter alone and would have if not for Curry's 10 points, including a buzzer-beating layup. The Dubs did have some self-inflicted wounds, most notably their seven turnovers in the quarter.

SEEDING IMPLICATIONS
The Warriors still have a path to the 8th seed, which involves them beating the Utah Jazz on Sunday and losses by the Sacramento Kings (vs. Blazers) and the Lakers (vs. Pelicans). If not, they will be relagated to the 9th vs. 10th seed Play-In game. The Dubs can host the 9th vs. 10th place game with a win and a loss for the Lakers or Kings.
