Jonathan Kuminga Stars in Warriors Win Over Grizzlies

Kuminga Scores 20+ Points for 8th Straight Game, Tied for the League's Fourth-Longest Streak This Season

Jonathan Kuminga scored 15 of his game-high 29 points in the second quarter of the Warriors' 121-101 victory over the Grizzlies in Memphis on Friday. The second quarter was a difference-maker for the Dubs, as they outscored the Grizzlies by nine points. Kuminga has now scored 20-plus points in eight straight games, tying Bam Adebayo for the fourth-longest streak in the league this season.

Despite the Grizzlies having elite rim protector and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr., the Warriors relentlessly attacked the basket, scoring 60 points in the paint and outscoring the Grizzlies by 18 in the restricted area.

KUMINGA'S SECOND-QUARTER SURGE
Jonathan Kuminga was locked in to begin the second quarter, scoring nine points in the first five minutes. Kuminga opened the quarter with a pair of mid-range jumpers before throwing down an emphatic two-hand slam and converting a three-point play with a crafty left-handed layup. He was the first Warrior to reach double-digits and finished the quarter with 15 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting. Kuminga has been in a groove as of late, joining reigning Finals MVP Nikola Jokic as the only players averaging at least 25 points per game on over 60 percent shooting from the field since Jan. 12.

GREEN ANCHORS ELITE DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE 
The Warriors held the Grizzlies to just 40.2 percent shooting from the field and just 30.4 percent from behind the arc. They held Memphis under 30 points in every quarter. Draymond Green led the way with three blocks and 10 defensive rebounds. 

PODZIEMSKI'S PLAYMAKING
Brandin Podziemski stuffed the stat sheet, scoring 10 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out a career-high 14 assists. Podziemski's 14 assists are the most by any rookie this season and he committed zero turnovers, joining Victor Wembanyama as the only rookies with 10-plus assists and no turnovers in a game this season.

QUINONES AND SANTOS' IMPACTFUL ROTATION MINUTES
With several key contributors out of the lineup, SeaDub standouts Lester Quinones and Gui Santos received first-quarter minutes. Quinones and Santos made the most of their opportunities throughout the game, with Quinones scoring 10 points and grabbing six rebounds in 19 minutes and Santos adding four points on a perfect 2-for-2 from the field in 11 minutes.
