THOMPSON THRIVES LEADING SECOND UNIT
Klay Thompson came off the bench for the first time since his rookie season and thrived in last Thursday's victory over the Utah Jazz. Thompson scored a season-high 35 points, including an 18-point third quarter. Rookie rising star Brandin Podziemski started in his place, creating a starting five that Head Coach Steve Kerr referred to as their most effective lineup this season with Stephen Curry, Jonathan Kuminga, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins.

"BP connects the game," Head Coach Steve Kerr said. "He rebounds and does the little things that really help the other guys."

As for Thompson, Kerr credited the veteran Splash Brother for handling the decision well and providing additional firepower to the second unit.

"Klay coming off the bench gives us a lot of firepower," Kerr said. "We'll give it a look and see how it goes."

L.A. LAKERS SCOUTING REPORT
The Los Angeles Lakers entered the All-Star break on a hot streak, winning six of their last seven games. Their recent success has coincided with the increased production of D'Angelo Russell, who averaged 20.3 points and 8.2 assists over that stretch, playing in all six wins and being out for the lone loss. The Lakers decided to retain their core at the trade deadline and signed free-agent guard Spencer Dinwiddie to contribute as a reserve combo guard. Dinwiddie is averaging 12.4 points and 6.0 assists over 50 games this season.
