MINNESOTA SCOUTING REPORT
The Timberwolves have won five straight games — including being the only team to beat the defending champion Denver Nuggets — and are in third place in the Western Conference. Minnesota owns the league's best defensive rating (101.0), anchored by three-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert. Gobert ranks first in rebounds per game (13.6 RPG), tied for 12th in blocks per game (1.9 BPG) and tied for second in double-doubles (7). The Timberwolves also have star guard Anthony Edwards, seventh on NBA.com's latest MVP ladder, right behind Stephen Curry (6th). Edwards is ninth in the league in scoring, averaging 27.9 points per game on 50.0 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from three. Other pieces of their core include former number 1 overall pick and All-NBA big man Karl-Anthony Towns, versatile perimeter defender Jaden McDaniels and playmaking point guard Mike Conley.
