The 76ers (1-2) have a chance to get even Sunday in their first round matchup with the New York Knicks (2-1), in a matinee matchup in South Philadelphia.

After New York took care of their home court in Games 1 and 2, the Sixers returned the favor in Thursday’s Game 3 - a 125-114 Philadelphia victory.

Joel Embiid delivered a historic performance in the win, scoring a playoff career-high 50 points on just 19 shots (13-19 FG, 5-7 3FG, 19-21 FT).

Embiid, recovering from injury and playing through illness, discussed his will to overcome adversity postgame.

“I just love playing the game - I want to be on the floor as much as possible,” Embiid said. “I’m not a quitter. I’m going to keep fighting through anything.”

Tyrese Maxey shone once again, finishing with 25 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.

Nick Nurse commended his star duo’s growth and cooperation Friday:

“I know they’re a good tandem. They’re both really great people. They both care a lot. They’re both superstars. They’re in that boat together.”

Embiid and Maxey are the highest-scoring duo in these playoffs thus far, with Embiid leading the NBA in playoff scoring (37.7 ppg), and Maxey the fourth-highest playoff scorer (31.0 ppg).

Leading the bench unit in Game 3 was Cam Payne, who was called upon after playing just three minutes in the series prior to Game 3. He scored 11 points in his 16 minutes.

“He’s just so positive,” Maxey said of Payne’s performance. “Everybody says I’m positive, but he’s extremely positive. He’s jumping around and having a great time. And he’s always vocal on the bench. We appreciate him for being who he was tonight.”

Following Sunday’s matchup, the series will shift back to New York City, where the Sixers and Knicks will meet Tuesday for Game 5.

Jalen Brunson led the way for New York in Game 3, notching a 39-point, 13-assist double-double. Brunson shot 13-for-27 from the field, 3-for-7 from deep, and 10-for-12 from the foul line.

Josh Hart continues to excel in the series, recording 20 points (including 4-for-8 shooting from long range), six rebounds, and six assists. Hart is shooting 52.2% from 3-point territory in the series.

Brunson leads the Knicks in scoring (28.3 ppg) and sharing (8.7 apg) in the playoffs thus far, while Hart leads New York in rebounding (11.3 rpg) and steals (1.3 spg).

De’Anthony Melton (spine) returned to the active roster for the first time in the playoffs for Game 3. He is not on the injury report for Game 4.

Embiid (left knee injury recovery) is questionable and Robert Covington (left knee bone bruise) is out for Philadelphia.&nbsp;

For New York, Mitchell Robinson (left ankle sprain) is questionable, while Julius Randle (right shoulder surgery) is out.&nbsp;

Payne on bringing energy as a bench player:

“Energy costs nothing. I was pumping the crowd up tonight. As humans, we feed off energy. We feed off confidence. Bench guys - that’s our job… I love having fun.”

Sunday’s matinee Game 4 is a 1 p.m. EDT tip in South Philadelphia.

Sunday night was a record-setting performance for the Philadelphia 76ers (40-35). In their 135-120 win at Toronto, the Sixers connected on a franchise-record 24 threes. They will now look to carry that momentum into a Tuesday night showdown in Philadelphia against the Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder (52-22).

Tyrese Maxey (left hip tightness) joined the list of inactives alongside Joel Embiid (left knee meniscus procedure) for the Raptors game. It was a wire-to-wire victory, nonetheless. 

Kelly Oubre Jr. scored a season-high 32 points (6-11 3fg). Cam Payne started and made six threes, Nico Batum came off the bench to shoot 5-for-6 from deep, and Kyle Lowry notched an 11-point, 10-assist double-double.

“A lot of guys contributed,” 76ers Head Coach Nick Nurse said postgame. “But a lot of it just had to do with making the right play a lot of the time.”

The first meeting of the season between the Sixers and Thunder was back on Nov. 25 in Oklahoma City, a 127-123 Sixers’ victory. Embiid paced Philadelphia with a game-high 35 points. Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren countered with 33 points and a career-high five 3-pointers. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (31 pts) and Maxey (28 points) were the game’s next-highest scorers.

The Sixers remain No. 8 in the Eastern Conference, 1.5 games back of the No. 7 Miami Heat (41-33), with the Heat hosting the New York Knicks (44-30) on Tuesday.

The Thunder (52-22) recaptured the top spot in the West with a game-winning shot from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Sunday night at the Knicks, and a subsequent Timberwolves (51-23) loss to the Bulls. The Denver Nuggets (52-23) are a half-game back entering Tuesday.

Jalen Williams, the second-year player from Santa Clara University, scored a game-high 33 points (14-18 fg, 1-4 3fg, 4-8 ft) in 34 minutes against New York. Josh Giddey notched his second triple-double of the season with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists in 31 minutes.

Gilgeous-Alexander averages a team-high 30.3 points per game, which ranks third in the NBA among eligible players behind only Luka Dončić (34.0 ppg) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (30.8 ppg).&nbsp;

Oklahoma City posted an 11-4 record in March after an 8-3 February. The Thunder lead the league in 3-point percentage at 39.1% as a team, and rank in the top five for both offensive and defensive efficiency.

On Monday afternoon’s official injury report, the 76ers listed the following players as out ahead of Tuesday’s game: Joel Embiid (left knee meniscus procedure), De’Anthony Melton (back; lumbar spine bone stress), and Robert Covington (left knee bone bruise). Tyrese Maxey is questionable with left hip tightness.

"It's great to see him,” Buddy Hield said of Embiid, who has been out for the past two months, but traveled on the recent road trip. “I see all this gravitation with what everybody does to him. The double teams - I see why they do it - because he's so good. I'm excited to see how the team looks and how we play with each other."

For the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is questionable due to a right quad contusion.

“We shot the ball really well. But a lot of that was off of some really good, I think, next passes or one more pass. We were creating a lot of those. Things kind of shift [with Maxey out]. Kelly becomes kind of one of our main guys. Cam Payne’s a main driver. Tobias [Harris] had a good segment there when the game got closer.”

Tuesday is a 7:30 p.m. EDT start in Philadelphia.

The Sixers will wear their royal blue Icon Edition uniforms, with the Thunder in their orange Statement Edition threads.

For the second time in four days, the 76ers (39-33) clash with the LA Clippers (44-27), with Wednesday night’s meeting shifting to South Philadelphia.

The Sixers knocked off the Clippers, 121-107, on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris headlined the victory with a game-high 24 points apiece. Cam Payne added a season-high 23 points (8-15 fg, 5-10 3fg, 2-2 ft) in 24 minutes off the bench.

Philadelphia shot a sparkling 48.6% from 3-point range as a team, going 18-for-37 from beyond the arc. The hot shooting helped them withstand a 16-0 Clippers’ run between the end of the first half and early third quarter. The Clippers never led in the contest, but did tie the game on multiple occasions in the third.

Maxey scored 11 points in the fourth quarter and Payne added eight more.

“We’ll have to make a few adjustments,” 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said Monday. “I’m sure they're going to be ready for our game plan that we threw out there [Sunday], so we’ll have to figure out what we’re going to change.”

Through Monday’s games, the Clippers boasted the NBA’s third-ranked offense.

The Sixers are coming off a 108-96 setback in Sacramento on Monday that concluded both a back-to-back and a four-game trip out West. Tyrese Maxey scored 21 of his game-high 29 points in the first quarter, representing the highest-scoring quarter of his career. 

In addition to Joel Embiid, De’Anthony Melton, and Robert Covington, Kelly Oubre Jr. also missed the game for Philadelphia due to shoulder soreness from a fall during the previous outing in L.A.

Following Wednesday’s contest, the Sixers head back out on the road for visits to Cleveland on Friday and Toronto on Sunday.

Like the Sixers, the Clippers (44-27) also faced a back-to-back on Monday, dropping a 133-116 game at home to the Pacers. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George both scored 26 points on 18 shots, and Norman Powell added 22 points (8-13 fg, 2-5 3fg, 4-4 ft) in 31 minutes off the bench.

Indiana connected on 60.7% of their 28 three-point attempts, making 17. Tyrese Haliburton went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and finished with 21 points and nine assists. Pascal Siakam was the leading scorer for the Pacers with a game-high 31 points (12-20 fg, 1-2 3fg, 6-8 ft) in 31 minutes.

There were no Clippers listed on the Tuesday evening injury report. Embiid (left knee meniscus procedure), Melton (back; lumbar spine bone stress), and Covington (left knee bone bruise) were again listed as out for the Sixers. Oubre Jr. (left shoulder soreness) is questionable.

“I think the first one was a dribble pull-up. I realized I had a one-on-one situation - I didn’t have many of those - so I was going to take advantage of that. And then the next one was a broken play - P[aul] Reed was extremely active and got a steal, K.J. [Martin] was smart, he got the ball and he swung it quick and I got a wide-open three. It was great. I think our defensive intensity was key [Sunday].”

Wednesday’s game is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT in Philadelphia.

The 76ers (30-21), with new faces in the fold, are Washington-bound, seeking a regular season series sweep over the Wizards (9-42).

The Sixers will look to bounce back after a hard-fought opener to their back-to-back Friday, falling 127-121 to the Atlanta Hawks (23-29).

The Wizards are also facing the second night of a back-to-back, after losing in Boston Friday, 133-129.

Friday night marked Sixer debuts for both Buddy Hield and Cam Payne, after both were acquired during Thursday’s trade deadline. Hield and Payne each scored 20 points in their respective debuts.

“I’m just happy to be a Sixer,” Hield said postgame. “I’ve been watching the Sixers my whole life. I’m just happy to be here, happy to be in this city.”

Friday’s performance marked Hield’s 37th double-figure performance of the season, and his sixth 20-plus point outing.

“We feel like we got the best player (Buddy Hield) at the trade deadline that was traded,” Daryl Morey said Friday pregame. “We really like what he adds to the team.”

“We feel like our playoff rotation - with Buddy Hield - is right there with everyone,” Morey continued.

Though Tyrese Maxey (illness) missed Friday’s matchup, his new teammates each expressed their excitement to play with the first-time All-Star.

“I thought I was fast,” Payne said postgame. “But [Tyrese] is way faster than me… Shoutout to his first All-Star. He’s smiling all the time. I love that about him.”

Saturday’s visit with the Wizards is the first stop on a two-game trip for the Sixers, who will play at Cleveland (34-16) Monday.

The Wizards (9-42) are on a five-game skid, despite putting up an impressive effort Friday against Boston (No. 1 in the Eastern Conference, 40-12).

Six Wizards finished in double figures Friday, led by Deni Avdija’s 24-point, 11-rebound double-double. Corey Kispert scored a bench-high 24 points of his own, plus six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Bilal Coulibaly added 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Kyle Kuzma leads Washington in scoring this season, averaging 21.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. Jordan Poole has averaged 15.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

"I came from The Bahamas. Nothing was given to me. So everything I have, I'm very appreciative of. To play on a big stage like this, it just brings joy to me, and my country. I have to represent myself, my family, and my country. There's always some kid in The Bahamas looking at me. Hopefully I can inspire him to be not me, but better than me. That's always my goal."

Saturday’s game is a 7 p.m. ET start in Washington.

The Sixers are slated to wear their white Association Edition uniforms, while Washington will wear its navy Statement Edition uniforms.
