The season is fast approaching as the Kings hold their first preseason game on Monday, October 4 versus the Phoenix Suns at Golden 1 Center.

Fans will also be able to tune in via live stream on Kings.com. The stream is limited to residents living within 75 miles of the arena.

The Kings will then travel to Los Angeles to face the Clippers on Wednesday, Oct. 6 (7:30 p.m. PDT) at STAPLES Center in the first of two road preseason games. During the following week, Sacramento moves on to Portland for a game with the Trail Blazers on Monday, Oct. 11 (7 p.m. PDT) at Moda Center.

Sacramento’s four-game preseason schedule concludes at Golden 1 Center against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, Oct. 14 (7 p.m. PDT). This marks the first time the Kings will face the Lakers in the preseason since 2018.

The live coverage on NBC Sports California will mark the official debut for the Kings new television game analyst Kayte Christensen-Hunter, who will join play-by-play announcer Mark Jones, with broadcasting icon Gary “The G-Man” Gerould returning behind the mic for Kings Radio on KHTK.

NBC Sports California’s coverage of the Sacramento Kings versus the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 27 will feature its first-ever exclusively women and non-binary announcing and coverage team across the live-game telecast, pregame and postgame shows, and social content.

Krista Blunk, former TV voice of the Sacramento Monarchs, will serve as play-by-play announcer alongside Kings analyst and former WNBA player Kayte Hunter. NBC Sports California host Laura Britt will anchor Kings Pregame Live and Kings Postgame Live with WNBA All-Star and New York Liberty guard Layshia Clarendon serving up pregame and postgame analysis, as well as in-game commentary. Stockton Kings color analyst Morgan Ragan will round out the cross-platform coverage by taking over NBC Sports California’s @NBCSKings Twitter account for the day.

“Each of these individuals are such valuable contributors to sports broadcasting and we are excited to bring them together to showcase their talent,” said Sacramento Kings President of Business Operations John Rinehart. “It is critically important to provide opportunities and pathways for more diverse voices to be included in the industry while also highlighting the incredible ones working in sports currently.  Pregame coverage will also feature guest Sophia Jones, a freshman San Jose State Spartans guard majoring in radio, television and film. The daughter of Kings play-by-play announcer Mark Jones, Sophia is a 2020 graduate of Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida, where she was a two sport athlete competing in basketball and track and field and owns the school’s career scoring record.

Iman Shumpert has become a vocal leader for Sactown since his arrival last February.

Whether it's being a defensive stalwart or having fun with the guys, No. 9 has made his presence known.

In an extensive interview with Kayte Hunter of NBC Sports California, Shump discusses the culture shift in Sacramento, the origins of his catchphrases and more.

"With me, to shift the culture, you have to shift the energy," explained Iman. "You have to shift the mindset. There's got to be something for people to grab onto."

Shump proceeded to detail what drove him to basketball and more importantly, the NBA.

"I never said to myself 'Get to the NBA, be an All-Star, make a $100 million contract,'" said the 7-year vet.

"I wanted to go the NBA and win a championship because I've never seen a grown man cry the way Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan cried when they won a championship."

The Georgia Tech alum continued to discuss how the young squad has performed so far this season.

"We can score the ball with anybody. What people should start taking notice to is the mistakes lessening and the decisions growing up."

The Kings continue their homestand Monday against San Antonio, with games against Houston, Miami and Phoenix to finish the week.

NBC Sports California has announced that it will broadcast 82 total Kings games throughout the 2017-18 season.

These broadcasts will include 81 regular season games as well as one preseason game.
NBC Sports California coverage will include pre and post game broadcasts and the familiar crew of Grant Napear, Jerry Reynolds, Kayte Christensen, and Doug Christie will provide in-game coverage.

The first game to be aired on NBC Sports California for this season will be Sacramento’s preseason contest against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday, October 9 followed by the regular season opener against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, October 18.
