Today, in conjunction with the first Utah Jazz Decade Night celebration at Delta Center, SEG Media released the first of six trailers to preview Note Worthy: 50 Seasons of Jazz Basketball, a documentary currently in production that explores the legacy of the Jazz - from New Orleans to Utah - and their role as a community unifier. Note Worthy is an all-access experience that takes fans behind the 50-season legacy of the franchise, through headline-making changes from past decades to the current team and ownership, and illustrates the path forward for an organization rooted in the heart of Utah’s culture and community. 

“The Utah Jazz are where we are today because of our fans, so we are making this film for them as an acknowledgement of every win and heartbreak we have shared on the court, every success we have marked together in the community, and all of the promise that lies ahead for our organization,” said Ryan Smith, chairman of Smith Entertainment Group and governor of the Utah Jazz. “SEG Media was created to unlock a new level of storytelling that brings fans inside the Jazz more than ever. We are so excited for our first long-form production with&nbsp;Note Worthy, a new documentary that will be unlike anything Jazz fans have seen before, and we look forward to seeing our fans' reactions.”

The full documentary and all supporting teasers will share an intimate, insider’s look at the Jazz organization. Through previously unheard perspectives and never-before-available lenses,&nbsp;Note Worthy&nbsp;will illustrate the trajectory of the franchise’s past 49 seasons into present day with their 50th season, ownership under Ryan and Ashley Smith, a young team, a passionate community that is continuously unified through their love of the team, and ambitions to bring fans a championship.&nbsp;

The remaining five teasers will be released throughout the 2023-24 NBA season, with each timed close to one of the Utah Jazz Decade Nights, leading up to the debut of the full documentary in Spring 2024.&nbsp;Note Worthy&nbsp;and its teasers will be released on the Utah Jazz 50th season webpage,&nbsp;Jazz+, YouTube, and the team's other digital platforms.&nbsp;

Note Worthy&nbsp;will be the first long-form release from SEG Media since the media and production company was founded in June 2023 by Smith Entertainment Group, parent company of both the Utah Jazz and SEG Media. SEG Media tapped the Emmy-winning creative agency&nbsp;Heart & Hustle Productions&nbsp;to co-produce the documentary, drawing on their expertise for telling dynamic, visual stories that intersect with the timeliness of sport and culture. The film is directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Rashad Floyd, whose athletic background, artistic approach, and unconventional style to storytelling brings a unique blend to the Jazz narrative.&nbsp;

First Teaser Released for Upcoming Utah Jazz Documentary – Note Worthy: 50 Seasons of Jazz Basketball

Excitement is building in Utah as the Utah Jazz prepare to kick off the 2023-24 NBA regular season inside the Delta Center where they will take on the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 25. Ahead of opening night - which is also the official onset of the 50th season of Jazz Basketball - the Jazz are unveiling updates at their home arena that range from new partnerships with local restaurants and a completely renovated broadcast studio to interactive fan attractions, new club partners, and other upgrades.&nbsp;

“From Delta Air Lines returning as a marquee partner to marking five decades as an NBA franchise, this season brings so many reasons to celebrate being a Jazz fan, and we are excited to unveil new programming and spaces at every level of Delta Center that will further enhance each guest’s experience,” said Jim Olson, president of the Utah Jazz.

Five new food and beverage providers will serve up local fan favorites and additional in-demand menu items on Delta Center’s concourse levels.&nbsp;

Santorini’s, an award-winning local restaurant with a focus on healthy Mediterranean fare, is now located on the main concourse by Portal H, offering items including the Santorini’s Mediterranean Bowl, a Jumbo Pita Sandwich, and Puffy Pita Tacos.

Swig, a local soft drink shop known for its “dirty sodas,” is serving refreshing drinks and delicious treats on the arena’s main and upper concourses as the new official Soda Shop of the Utah Jazz.

Salt City Smokehouse, located in Section F, has been added as a new barbecue option, which has long been a Jazz fan favorite food choice. The menu items were designed to be easy to eat in any seat ranging from a Chimichurri Tri Tip Sandwich and a Hickory Pulled Pork Sandwich on Texas Toast to a S’mores Ice Cream Sandwich.&nbsp;

Casamigos Corner, a new full-service bar experience in Portal DD, will serve up specialty, tequila-based cocktails and entrees such as Loaded Nachos, Taco Salads, and popular Bone-In Chicken Wings.

Sprinkles Cupcakes now serves its famous fresh-baked cupcakes through convenient Cupcake ATMs located on the south side of the main concourse and on the upper concourse.&nbsp;

Delta Center continues to feature a variety of other Utah-based restaurant partners including Costa Vida Mexican Grill, Spilled Milk Ice Cream, Cupbop Korean BBQ, Bon Bon Desserts & Gelato, Cubby’s, J.Dawgs, Maxwell’s Pizza, Proper Burger, San Diablo Churros, Totally Nutz, Chile Verde Mexican Burrito, and Honest Acai.

A New Broadcast Experience at Delta Studios

Jazz fans walking along Level 5 will notice the completely renovated Utah Jazz broadcast set, now known as Delta Studios, which was completely transformed over the summer by Creative Dimensions into an enclosed set that features a 12’ x 6.75’ seamless LED video wall.

Starting Oct. 25, Delta Studios will introduce new production spaces and capabilities to Jazz games and other SEG Media productions. In addition to being the main site for all pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows to air on KJZZ-TV (Channel 14) and Jazz+, Delta Studios will host&nbsp; interviews, podcast recordings, and behind-the-scenes shoots for exclusive content to be shared across the team’s media platforms.&nbsp;

As part of the continued long-term partnership between the Utah Jazz and 5 For The Fight, the 5 For The Fight “All In Until Cancer Gives In” Wall is a new, permanent interactive installation located near the main entrance of the arena. This space enables fans to dedicate their “5” for someone they know who is fighting cancer, take a photo, donate, and enter to win exclusive Jazz memorabilia. Fans in the space can play back and personalize video messages from Utah Jazz players to send digitally to loved ones who are in the fight against cancer.

In the same vicinity is the new Utah Jazz Legends Wall, which presents a visual, interactive history of Jazz basketball. Fans can scroll through bios of current players and watch highlights and top plays from the past 49 years. The wall also serves up information on Jazzmen who were Olympians, statistics from the team’s NBA playoff runs, and background on the venues where the team has played.&nbsp;

Located on Level 6, the Ford Fan Zone features new family activities including play-safe spaces and multiple Pop-A-Shots. Advance reservations are not required.

Several clubs on the arena’s first, second, and fourth levels offer updated designs and feature new branding. The space formerly known as LGCY Club is now the Black Desert Club as part of a new partnership between the Utah Jazz and Black Desert Resort in St. George. Interform Club has taken over the space previously known as the WCF Club, and LVT – the new official patch partner of the Utah Jazz and their G-League franchise, the Salt Lake City Stars, and a sponsor of Junior Jazz - is now the presenting sponsor of the suite level at Delta Center (Level 4). 

The Delta Sky360® Club – the arena’s invitation-only club located on Level 1 - was completely renovated to add an inclusive new food experience and complimentary beverages. The club’s redesign includes new lighting installations and furniture, creating an elevated environment.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The new Tee Box Lounge, located on Level 6, features two golf simulator stations fitted with Trackman technologies, a custom putting green, and a retail shop offering Utah Jazz-branded Asher Golf apparel. Delta Air Lines Announced as the Presenting Sponsor&nbsp;of the Season-Long Celebration

The Utah Jazz today announced plans for their 50th season celebration that will engage fans in Utah and beyond through a variety of activations at Delta Center, in the community, and on the team’s digital platforms. Delta Air Lines is the presenting sponsor of the team’s 50th season-themed initiatives.

“From New Orleans to Salt Lake City, the Jazz legacy has been built by storied on court performances, larger-than-life personalities, and incredible fans locally and around the world who continue to cheer us on game after game, decade after decade," said Jim Olson, president of the Utah Jazz. "We are excited to immerse the community in countless celebrations of both the talented Jazzmen, coaches, and leaders who’ve led our organization over the past 50 years and those who are actively contributing to what will be our legacy for the next 50 years."

Utah Jazz 2023-24 Classic Edition Uniform and Court Reflect on Seasons Past

Revealed today, the design of the Utah Jazz 2023-24 Nike Classic Edition uniform and Classic Edition court symbolizes the early days of Jazz basketball.

The 2023-24 Nike Classic Edition uniform is a throwback to the road uniform from the franchise’s debut season in New Orleans (1974-75) and is one of the most iconic, as it was worn by Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Pete “Pistol Pete” Maravich. The vivid purple uniform is trimmed in gold and green and features a bold, white Jazz logo that is an exact replica from the original uniform.

The 2023-24 Utah Jazz Classic Edition court incorporates design elements from courts at the Salt Palace and Delta Center in the 1980s and 1990s. It prominently features the team’s trademark purple, with the 1974 Jazz wordmark on each baseline and gold and green trim around the perimeter. The official 50th Season logo is displayed at center court.

The Utah Jazz will debut their Classic Edition uniform and court during their season opener on Oct. 25 at Delta Center against the Sacramento Kings. The uniform is available for presale today beginning at 10:50a.m. MDT.

Decade Night Celebrations at Delta Center

Earlier this year, the Utah Jazz and Delta reached a milestone when the Delta Center name returned to Salt Lake City, and the partnership will continue to make history by bringing “Decade Nights” to Delta Center throughout the season. Kicking off with the 1970s, each Decade Night will feature alumni appearances and themed programming that incorporates Jazz basketball history and the influence of pop culture from that decade. Game night programming will be announced leading up to each Decade Night. Single-game tickets, including tickets for Decade Nights, are now available for purchase.&nbsp;

SEG Media and Emmy-winning creative agency Heart and Hustle are partnering on a documentary that explores the franchise’s storied history and goes behind closed doors for an exclusive look at the organization in present day. Through powerful interviews, cinematic scenes, and never-before-released footage, the film will provide an all-access experience to the excitement, controversy, tangible memories, and the intriguing personalities of the Utah Jazz. The first of five teasers will air in November, and a long-form film will premiere in Spring 2024. The documentary will be available for viewing on the forthcoming subscription-based streaming service. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Note: The History of the Utah Jazz - a limited-series podcast created in partnership with Delta - will feature exclusive conversations with sports and basketball legends including John Stockton, Doris Burke, Dan Patrick, and many others. The monthly series will debut the week of Oct. 23 and be available via the Utah Jazz Podcast Network.&nbsp;

Community Initiatives and Acts of Service

In a nod to their shared commitment to community, the Jazz and Delta are reconstructing and updating the 20-year-old basketball court at Liberty Park, which is located less than three miles southeast of Delta Center. Upon its opening in late October, the basketball court will be a year-round resource for youth, families, community members, and visitors featuring a new perimeter fence, seating area, and gathering space.

The Jazz and Delta will also host 10 free-to-attend basketball clinics for youth from historically underserved communities. About 50 youth aged 7 to 15 will be invited to participate in each clinic, which will take place at either Zions Bank Basketball Campus, the training facility of the Utah Jazz, or the training facility of the Salt Lake City Stars, the NBA G League affiliate of the Jazz.&nbsp;

The Utah Jazz will also organize several acts of service to give back to the community. For the first instance, next month, the Jazz will clear classroom wish lists for teachers at high-need schools. In the following months, the Jazz will focus these acts on military families and holiday giving.

Throughout the season-long celebration, Jazz fans will be able to bring home keepsakes, including the 2023-24 Classic Edition uniform, 50th-themed apparel, and limited-edition artwork. CounterPoint, the Utah Jazz private label lifestyle brand, will introduce various 50th season collections. The first is a collaborative capsule collection with designers Jeff Hamilton and Jon Stan which will include high-end luxury knits, varsity jackets, and hats and will be available for purchase exclusively at Delta Center beginning in October.&nbsp;

Utah Jazz Kick Off 50th Season

The following is a medical update on Utah Jazz two-way forward Micah Potter:

Potter was examined Jan. 21 by the Utah Jazz medical staff and underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) testing. The MRI revealed loose body fragments in his right elbow. Potter will undergo surgery to remove the loose body fragments from his elbow on Jan. 27 and be reevaluated in four to six weeks.&nbsp;

Potter (6-10, 248, Wisconsin) has seen action in three games for the Jazz in 2022-23, averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 boards in 4.7 minutes per contest. With the Salt Lake City Stars, he’s played in 12 Showcase and regular season games, with averages of 14.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 29.3 minutes per game.
