Bulls acquire Devin Brown from New Orleans

January 25, 2010 -- The Chicago Bulls announced today that the team has acquired guard Devin Brown from the New Orleans Hornets for center Aaron Gray.

“We’re excited to add Devin Brown to our team,” said Chicago Bulls General Manager Gar Forman. “His toughness, defensive versatility, and shooting will be excellent additions to our perimeter rotation.”

Brown (6-5, 210) has appeared in 39 games (37 starts) for the Hornets this year, and averaged 9.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 1.5 apg in 24.8 mpg. On the season, he has shot .394 from the field, .367 from behind the arc and .802 from the line.

In his eighth season out of the University of Texas-San Antonio, the 31-year old Brown has also played for New Orleans (two times), Denver, San Antonio (a member of the 2005 NBA Championship team), Utah and Cleveland. He holds career averages of 7.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.5 apg and 19.7 mpg.

Gray (7-0, 270) was drafted by Chicago in the second round (49th overall) of NBA Draft 2007. In two-plus seasons with the Bulls, he played in 125 games (19 starts) and averaged 3.8 ppg and 3.2 rpg in 11.0 mpg. He has appeared in eight games this season and recorded 2.3 ppg and 2.0 rpg in 6.3 mpg.

Brown will make his Bulls debut on Wednesday night at Oklahoma City.
