Warriors Make the Most of Visit to the White House

Established 1946 | 7-time NBA Champions

There have been many great moments in this Warriors’ golden era highlighted by four NBA Championships in eight seasons, and Tuesday afternoon at the White House is now high on the list.

As has become tradition of Championship teams in major American sports, the 2022 NBA Champion Warriors visited with the President of the United States on Tuesday in the East Room at the White House. In addition to meeting with President Joe Biden, Vice President – and Oakland’s own – Kamala Harris was on hand to give her hometown Warriors a warm welcome.

"It's a great reminder of how lucky we are to be Americans, to live in a country where we can chase our dreams and enjoy the fruits of our labor and the celebration of all those around us," Head Coach Steve Kerr said. "To come here today with members of the organization to celebrate is really something special."

The Warriors’ White House experience also included Head Coach Steve Kerr taking part in a roundtable discussion on gun violence and gun safety with senior White House officials, as well as Kerr and Curry taking part in a media session in the briefing room with press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

On Monday, the Warriors’ played their lone regular season road game against the Wizards in an MLK Day matinee, and with the team having two full days between games on their current road trip, the schedule aligned with that of the President for Tuesday’s White House visit.

Not only were Warriors players, coaches and front office staff there, but the event was also attended by Congresswoman and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, San Francisco Mayor London Breed and Bay Area hip-hop royalty Too $hort, E-40 and Mistah F.A.B., among others.

"This is something that we don't ever take for granted," Stephen Curry said. "To have this opportunity to reflect on the accomplishment last year, to bring everybody together to celebrate and to also acknowledge the place sports have in bringing people together from all walks of life, all backgrounds, to provide inspiration, hope, love and togetherness ... that's what our journey was last year."

The White House visit was surely one to remember for the entire Warriors organization.
