The Golden State Warriors have signed rookie guard Brandin Podziemski (po-JEM-ski) to a contract, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.
The Warriors selected Podziemski with the 19th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Podziemski, 20, appeared in 32 games (all starts) during his lone season at Santa Clara, averaging 19.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.8 steals in 36.0 minutes per game. The 6’5” guard was named the 2022-23 West Coast Conference (WCC) Co-Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year after transferring from Illinois following his freshman season.

Podziemski led the WCC in rebounding, ranked third in scoring, fourth in assists and first in double-doubles (13). He was one of three players in NCAA Division I to average at least 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists. The sophomore finished fifth in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (43.8%).
Podziemski became the first player in program history to earn four WCC Player of the Week honors. He joins two-time Kia NBA MVP Steve Nash (1996) and 2022-23 Kia NBA All-Rookie First Team selection Jalen Williams (2022) as the only Santa Clara players selected in the NBA Draft since the league adopted the two-round format in 1989.
