Warriors Ride 28-4 Third Quarter Run to Win Over Spurs

Jackson-Davis Finishes Poster Dunk Over Wembanyama

Catapulted by a significant third-quarter run, the Warriors bounced back to defeat the Spurs 112-102 in San Antonio on Monday. The Dubs had six players in double figures, paced by Jonathan Kuminga's 22 points and secured their first win of the season without Stephen Curry (previously 0-4).

CP3'S HOT START
Chris Paul scored the Warriors' final eight points in the first quarter, capping the frame with a heavily contested mid-range buzzer-beater. Paul shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the field in the quarter, leading all players in made field goals. 

The Spurs got off to a quick start, leading by as many as 11 points, so Paul's timely baskets helped the Warriors remain in striking distance and bring the deficit to within single digits. Early in the second quarter, the Warriors went on a 7-0 to pull to within three. Paul was directly involved in five of those points, hitting a 3-pointer and throwing an alley-oop to Tryace Jackson-Davis.

Paul stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with 19 points, a season-high nine rebounds and eight assists.

THOMPSON'S 9TH SEASON WITH 200 MADE THREES
With his first made 3-pointer of the game, Klay Thompson reached 200 made threes in a season for the ninth time in his career. Only fellow Splash Brother Stephen Curry has more such seasons (11). Thompson made five 3-pointers on Monday, moving to third in the league in made 3-pointers this season (204), only trailing Luka Doncic (220) and Stephen Curry (290).

WARRIORS HOLD SPURS SCORELESS FOR FIVE MINUTES
The Warriors kept the Spurs off the scoreboard for five straight minutes in the third quarter, part of a 28-4 Warriors' run that took them from down 10 to up 14. The Spurs opened the quarter with an 8-0 advantage, but the Dubs responded, outscoring San Antonio 32-10 for the remainder of the period. Jonathan Kuminga (7 points, 3-for-3 FG), Trayce Jackson-Davis (6 points, 3-for-3 FG) and Andrew Wiggins (6 points, 2-for-2 FG) combined to outscore the Spurs 19-18 in the quarter, shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the field.

IMPACTFUL ROOKS
Rookies Trayce Jackson-Davis (+20) and Brandin Podziemski (+17) had the two-highest plus-minuses in the game, both coming of the Warriors' bench. Jackson-Davis tallied 13 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, shooting 6-for-7 from the field and Podziesmki had 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three made 3-pointers. 

Late in the fourth quarter, Jackson-Davis had a highlight-reel poster dunk on another rookie, 7'4 number one overall pick Victor Wembanyama. Handling the ball at the top of the key, Jackson-Davis used a spin move to get to his dominant hand, exploded to the rim and flushed.
