FOURTH QUARTER DOMINANCE

With 9:54 left in the fourth quarter, the Warriors trailed 90-74. From that point forward, the Dubs outscored Washington 30-5. Patrick Baldwin Jr., the Warriors’ first round draft pick this past June, made two 3-pointers during that stretch, including the go-ahead splash with 2:02 left in the game. That was his fourth made three on five attempts, and Moses Moody and Mac McClung also hit 3-pointers in the period. McClung had nine points and two assists in the fourth quarter, and Moody complimented his splash with two powerful dunks as he scored seven of his 12 points in the final period.

That the Warriors had to come back in the first place had plenty to do with the team’s 22 turnovers, most of which were committed in the first half, which ended with the Dubs down by two. The Warriors sat four of their five starters the entire second half and the Wizards took advantage with a 12-2 run to open the third quarter.

Curry Flurry

After going a jetlagged 1-for-7 from the floor in Friday’s win, Stephen Curry bounced back on Sunday and paced the Dubs in scoring. The reigning NBA Finals MVP got hot in the second quarter, scoring 12 of his 17 points in the period, the final 10 during a four-minute stretch that wowed the sold-out crowd in attendance.

International Splash Party

The Dubs were much more efficient with their perimeter shooting on Sunday, and that was evident from the start. Jordan Poole knocked ran off a screen and knocked down a 3-pointer on the first possession of the game and a few minutes later Draymond Green knocked down his first three of the game to give the Dubs a 7-0 advantage. The Warriors made five of their first eight 3-point attempts, with five different players accounting for those makes. And when the final buzzer sounded, the Dubs were 16-for-39 (41 percent) from distance, with Baldwin leading the way with four makes.
