Game Preview: Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers - 4/9/24

High Stakes in Los Angeles on Tuesday

TIEBREAKER ON THE LINE
The Warriors will visit the Lakers for their fourth and final regular season matchup in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The Dubs are 2-1 in the regular season series against the Lakers and can clinch the season series with a win. If they win, the Warriors will hand Los Angeles their 35th loss, meaning that if both teams win their remaining games, they will finish with identical records and the Dubs would leapfrog the Lakers in the standings. This could potentially mean homecourt advantage in a head-to-head Play-In game. » Read More

JK'S TEAM FIRST MINDSET
The Warriors recently went on their longest winning streak of the season (6 games) and were without Jonathan Kuminga for five of those contests. During the time Kuminga missed, Draymond Green and Trayce Jackson-Davis developed a great synergy in the frontcourt, particularly on the defensive end. Andrew Wiggins played some of his best two-way ball of the season and the Dubs were seemingly hitting their stride. Earlier in the season when Green missed extended time, it was Kuminga who came into the starting lineup and thrived. With the roles reversed, the third-year forward isn't overly concerned about starting or coming off the bench, he's more focused on impacting winning and this team's success.

“I wasn't concerned about coming off the bench," Kuminga said. " I was more concerned about going in there and impacting the win because a win is a win at the end of the day."

L.A. LAKERS SCOUTING REPORT
The Los Angeles Lakers have won nine of their last 11 games, tied with the Boston Celtics for the league's second-best record over that span. During this stretch, they've been the highest-scoring team in the league (122.1 PPG), while ranking second in true shooting percentage (61.7%).

Anthony Davis has set a tone for the Lakers with his defensive tenacity, consistent production and durability. This season, Davis has played his most games as a Laker (74) and only San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama is averaging more blocks per game leaguewide. D'Angelo Russell is having a career year from behind the arc, shooting 41.9 percent from deep and setting a franchise record for the most made 3-pointers in a single season (219 and counting). And then of course, there's LeBron James defying father time in his 21st season, averaging 25.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.2 assists. In the year that he became the NBA's all-time leading scorer, James is shooting a career-best 41.3 percent from three.
