Dubs By the Numbers: Jonathan Kuminga Makes History

Kuminga Youngest Warrior to Reach 1,000 Points in a Single Season

The Warriors have won two of their last three games, including a pivotal 128-121 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday to regain ninth place in the Western Conference with 16 games left. Ten-time All-Star Stephen Curry returned to the lineup on Saturday, scoring a team-high 31 points. Jonathan Kuminga continues to etch his name in Warriors history and Klay Thompson's bench scoring adds another element to their attack.

Last season, Jonathan Kuminga became the youngest Warrior to reach 1,000 career points and this past week, he became the youngest in franchise history to eclipse that milestone in a single season. At age 21, Kuminga accomplished the feat 115 days faster than former first-overall pick Joe Smith.

Kuminga has thrown down 121 dunks this season, tying JaVale McGee (2016-17 season) for the most dunks in a single season by a Warrior in the play-by-play era (1997-98). The athletic forward has been a lob threat for the Dubs this season but also created his own poster opportunities with his quick first step. Klay Thompson referred to Kuminga as "arguably the best athlete in the NBA" for his explosiveness and speed.

Rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis has five double-doubles this season, four of which came off the bench. Jackson-Davis leads all rookie reserves in double-doubles and only five bench players overall have more double-doubles than him. He has the most double-doubles by a Warriors' rookie off the bench since Dave Hoppen in 1987-88.

Klay Thompson has eclipsed 200 3-pointers this season for the ninth time in his career, second only to Stephen Curry’s 11 seasons. Thompson’s 210 3-pointers rank fourth in the league behind Curry (293), Luka Doncic (232) and Donte DiVincenzo (212). The Splash Brother needs 28 threes to pass Kyle Korver (2450) for the 6th most made 3-pointers in NBA history.

In 10 games off the bench, Thompson is averaging 20.3 points, shooting 48.0 percent from the field, 44.8 percent from three and 94.7 percent from the free throw line. Thompson is one of two reserves averaging at least 20 points, joined by his former teammate Jordan Poole (20.5 PPG).
