GAME LEADERS

If that was the preseason, there’s no telling how wild a ride the regular season will be. The Dubs closed out their exhibition slate with a 107-96 thrill-a-minute victory over the visiting Trail Blazers on Friday, and the packed house at Oracle Arena loved every minute of it.

Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant offered plenty of evidence defending why no other player has been named an NBA MVP since 2013, and the result was a showcase of highlights that can be looped over and over on Vine.

Curry owned the first half, particularly the second quarter when he knocked down four of his eight 3-pointers. The Dubs guard tallied 35 points in 28 minutes on the night, and Durant took over where Curry left off in the third quarter, connecting on 14 of his 28 points in the third period

By the time the Dubs had done the brunt of their damage, their horrid start was a distant memory. The Warriors trailed 22-6 midway through the first quarter, but the Dubs quickly got back into the game behind some stellar 3-point shooting. The Dubs trailed by five at the end of the first quarter, were up one at the half and then opened the game up with a 33-16 third period.

In addition to the stars doing their thing, Ian Clark came off the bench and put forth his best performance of the preseason, shooting 7-for-11 from the field and 3-of-6 on 3-pointers for 17 points.

With the win, the Dubs finish their exhibition slate with a 6-1 mark, but that will be reset to zeros now as the team gets set for the regular season to begin. The Warriors open things up at home on Tuesday, taking on the Spurs in what is sure to be one of the most highly anticipated Opening Nights in franchise history.
