The Warriors were eliminated from playoff contention in their 118-94 loss to the Kings in Sacramento on Tuesday. The Dubs finished the season as the winningest 10th seed in NBA history but continued a trend of no 10th-seeded team advancing to the playoffs from the Play-In.

Despite falling short of the playoffs, the Warriors ended the season playing their best basketball, going 27-13 in their final 40 games and winning 17 of their final 22 road games.

Play-In Tournament: Kings 118 - Warriors 94 - 4/16/24

KEEGAN MURRAY FLURRYKeegan Murray got the Kings off to a quick start, scoring their first nine points and 11 of their first 13. Murray hit three early 3-pointers, outscoring the Warriors by himself (9-8) before any other King scored. The first King to join Murray in the scoring column was De'Aaron Fox, who ended the first quarter with eight points on 4-for-5 shooting. The duo combined to equal the Warriors' point total in the opening frame (22 points) and helped Sacramento to a nine-point lead.

Murray (32) and Fox (24) were the game's top two scorers, combining for 56 points.

KUMINGA'S MID-RANGE GAMEJonathan Kuminga led the Warriors in paint points this season and set a franchise record for most dunks in a season. However, a significant development in his game has been his decision-making and adding versatility to his offensive skillset. This versatility was displayed on Tuesday, as the third-year forward hit three mid-range jumpers in the first half, including two during a personal 6-0 run that helped keep the Dubs in striking distance. Kuminga used Domantas Sabonis playing him for the drive to his advantage, creating separation and accelerating into hesitation pull-up jumpers.&nbsp;

Kuminga scored 10 points in the final 4:21 of the second quarter, ending the half with a team-high 12 points as the Warriors cut a once 16-point deficit to four.

SPLASH BROS HELD IN CHECKStephen Curry (5) and Klay Thompson (0) combined for just five points on 2-for-10 shooting in the first half. Curry got it going in the third quarter, scoring 11 points in the frame, but Thompson remained without a point. Curry finished with 22 points on 8-for-16 shooting and six turnovers, while Thompson had zero points on 0-for-10 shooting.&nbsp;

MOODY MAKES HIS MARKMoses Moody was very efficient off the bench for the Warriors, scoring 16 points on 5-for-8 shooting in 15 minutes. Despite the Warriors trailing by as many as 26 points, Moody had a positive plus-minus for most of the game, including an impactful second-quarter stretch that helped keep the team afloat.&nbsp;

UP NEXT The Warriors' 2023-24 season has concluded and they will prepare for the NBA Draft, which will be two days this year, with the first round on June 26 and Round 2 on June 27.

SACRAMENTO SCOUTING REPORTThe Sacramento Kings have sputtered down the stretch, falling from a seemingly secure playoff spot to the 9th vs. 10th place Play-In game. The injury bug has plagued Sacramento down the stretch as they are without two of their top shooters, Kevin Huerter (torn left labrum) and Malik Monk (sprained right MCL). Huerter was the team's starting shooting guard and Monk is among the league's best 6th men. In their absence, the Kings have turned to undrafted second-year guard Keon Ellis, a more defensive-minded player who recently hit eight 3-pointers against the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 9. Sacramento has two starters who played in all 82 regular season games — Domantas Sabonis and Harrison Barnes. Sabonis is the league's leading rebounder for the second consecutive season (13.7 RPG) and finished first in double-doubles (77). Reigning Clutch Player of the Year, De'Aaron Fox, averaged a team-high 26.6 points and led the league in steals per game (2.0).

PLAY-IN MATCHUP VS. KINGSWith the Warriors, Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers all winning, the Dubs will head to Sacramento to face the Kings for the first of two potential Play-In games on Tuesday. The Warriors must win two Play-In games to enter the playoffs as the eighth seed. Their second hypothetical Play-In game would be against the loser of the Lakers vs. Pelicans matchup. Nearly a minute later, Stephen Curry dimed him up with a timely look-away bounce pass, which he flushed with his dominant left hand.&nbsp;Jackson-Davis was a plus-11 in his seven first-quarter minutes.

PELICANS' EXPLOSIVE SECOND QUARTERThe Pelicans were on fire from distance in the second quarter, scoring 45 points and hitting 10 3-pointers in the frame. CJ McCollum and Trey Murphy combined to hit eight of those 10 triples. New Orleans nearly eclipsed the Warriors' first-half point total in the second quarter alone and would have if not for Curry's 10 points, including a buzzer-beating layup.&nbsp;The Dubs did have some self-inflicted wounds, most notably their seven turnovers in the quarter.

It was far from pretty, but the Warriors came through with the game on the line, using a 16-1 fourth-quarter run to pick up a 100-92 win in Portland on Thursday night. It was the Dubs’ 17th win in their last 21 road games, and the triumph keeps the Dubs in contention to improve upon their standing in the Play-In Tournament.

Playing without Klay Thompson (right knee tendonitis), Draymond Green (right knee contusion) or Gary Payton II (left calf tightness), Stephen Curry used a strong fourth quarter to finish with a team-high 22 points and eight assists. Jonathan Kuminga overcame foul trouble and had 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting and Andrew Wiggins added 15 points in the Dubs’ regular season road finale.

FOURTH QUARTER SURGEA one-point game entering the fourth quarter, offense was hard to come by in the early moments of the final period. Portland used their athleticism and pressure defense to limit the Dubs’ offensive looks, and it paid off with the home team taking a six-point advantage. Needing a boost, the Warriors turned to Stephen Curry to lead the way, and the two-time MVP came through. Curry had eight points and three assists during the game-changing 16-1 run, and on the receiving end of two of those assists was Kevon Looney.

The Warriors’ veteran center saw extended playing time and responded with nine points and 11 rebounds in 20 minutes. But perhaps Looney’s biggest play of the night was a fourth-quarter steal. With Portland inbounding the ball underneath their offensive basket, Looney intercepted the pass and ignited a fast break that ended with Brandin Podziemski converting an and-1 layup. The play put the Warriors up by nine points with just over three minutes left, and the Trail Blazers never threatened from there.

SCOREBOARD WATCHINGThe Warriors’ win coupled with New Orleans’ victory over Sacramento brought the Dubs into a three-way tie for eighth place in the Western Conference with the Kings and Lakers. With each team sporting a 45-35 record with remaining games on Friday and Sunday, Play-In Tournament seeding and matchups are still very much up in the air, with the Dubs having the potential to finish the regular season anywhere between eighth and 10th place in the West.

RECOVERING FROM A SLOW STARTAn ugly start to the game had the Dubs 0-for-3 from the floor with five turnovers before a Stephen Curry 3-pointer marked the team’s first made field goal nearly four minutes into the game. And though they would trail by as many as seven points in the opening period, the Warriors responded with a 10-0 run. Jonathan Kuminga and Curry made back-to-back 3-pointers to ignite that spurt and Brandin Podziemski found a cutting Kuminga for a dunk to complete that stretch.

DUBS DEFENSE STANDS OUTA choppy, back-and-forth game with 15 lead changes and six ties, the Warriors never led by more than six points until their game-closing run. And despite their offensive struggles, they stayed in the game thanks to a stellar defensive effort. The Dubs tied a season-high with 13 blocks and held the Trail Blazers to 36.1 percent shooting from the field, a season-low for Warriors opponents. Trayce Jackson-Davis and Kevon Looney tallied four blocks apiece, and Wiggins and Curry added two swats apiece. Though Deandre Ayton had a big game with 25 points and 11 rebounds, the Dubs tightened their defense up when it mattered most, keeping Portland without a made field goal for a six-and-a-half minute stretch in the fourth quarter.

UP NEXTWinners of nine of their last 10 games, the Warriors will face the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night at Chase Center. Both teams will be playing the back end of a back-to-back, and both teams still have plenty to play for in these final two games of the season.

PORTLAND SCOUTING REPORTThe Portland Trail Blazers have lost 12 of their last 14 games, but both of those wins came in their previous four games. This season has been a transition year for the Blazers, who are without their franchise's all-time leading scorer, Damian Lillard, after 10 years with the organization.
