“Wolves Dream Team” Signs 15 Players to Honorary Contracts

MINNEAPOLIS and ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Timberwolves, in partnership with UnitedHealthcare and Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities, today announced the signing of 15 new honorary team members to their roster to create the 2023-24 “Wolves Dream Team.” Presented by UnitedHealthcare, the Wolves Dream Team is comprised of youth from the Twin Cities and surrounding area, ranging in age from nine to 12 years old and include Camerin, Dominic, Charlie, Vito, Evan, Marco, Amir, Jaylen, Jimmie, Javon, Wisdom, Shai, Wycell, James and Mauricio.

The special day tipped-off with a press conference where each Wolves Dream Team member was introduced by Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly before signing their honorary one-day contracts. The Wolves Dream Team members then had a Media Day photoshoot donning their jerseys and concluded with “Player for A Day” practice participation where each team member was paired with a Timberwolves player during practice.

“We are excited to work with Big Brothers and Big Sisters to pair local children with a Timberwolves player,” said Sarah Dye, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Minnesota. “Mentoring can help youth as they go through challenging life transitions, including dealing with stressful changes at home or transitioning to adulthood. The Wolves complement the work we do in the Twin Cities to provide children the opportunity to pursue their passions and build lifelong healthy habits.”

“Creating this opportunity for young people in our community each year is one of the most impactful things we are able to do with the platform we’ve been given as a professional sports team,” said Timberwolves and Lynx Chief Impact Officer Tru Pettigrew. “I’m proud of our players, coaches, and staff for understanding the significance of this opportunity and for supporting the dreams of these youth.”

The Wolves Dream Team works to build confidence and instill a passion for the game, while providing mentorship to its members throughout the 2023-24 season. The Wolves Dream Team will be honored on-court on Feb. 24 when the Wolves host the Brooklyn Nets.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities mentors nominated their “Little” through an application process that included why each player should be selected for the Wolves Dream Team and why they are passionate about the Minnesota Timberwolves and basketball.
