The 76ers have added a pair of two-way contract players to the fold, Ricky Council IV and Terquavion Smith, who are eligible to play for both the Sixers and the NBA G League’s Delaware Blue Coats.

Ricky Council IV:

  • The 6-foot-6 Council IV is a Durham, North Carolina native.
  • He played college basketball at Wichita State (2020-22) and Arkansas (2022-23).
  • Council IV was the leading scorer and averaged 16.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 34.1 minutes per game for an Arkansas team that reached the 2023 Sweet 16, where they fell to eventual national champion UConn.
  • In the second round, the eighth-seeded Razorbacks upset No. 1 seed Kansas by one point. Council IV made 10 of his 11 free-throw attempts in a 21-point effort, including five makes in the final 23 seconds after the game was tied.
  • The All-SEC Second Team selection led the conference in free throws made (173) and ranked second in attempts (218), connecting on nearly 80-percent of his foul shots.
  • In 49 games (eight starts) at Wichita State before arriving at Arkansas, Council IV averaged 9.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 21.9 minutes per game.
  • Council IV earned 2022 Sixth Man of the Year honors in the American Athletic Conference after pacing the league’s reserves with 12.0 points per game. In that second season with the Shockers, Council IV drew a team-high 4.5 fouls-per-40-minutes and ranked third in the AAC in free-throw percentage at .849 (90-106).
  • His three siblings also hold college basketball playing experience: sister, Rhianna, at UNCG and two brothers, Ricky II (Providence and UMBC) and Ricky III (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M).

Terquavion Smith:

  • Smith also hails from North Carolina, a Fayetteville native who was a three-time state champion at Farmville Central High School.
  • The 6-foot-4 Smith was the 2021 North Carolina Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year and North Carolina Mr. Basketball (Charlotte Observer), averaging 25.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 3.2 steals per game during a perfect senior season.
  • Smith spent the last two college seasons at NC State, finishing second in the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring (17.9 ppg) and earning Second Team All-ACC honors as a sophomore.
  • Last March, Smith recorded the second-highest-scoring game in the NCAA Tournament when he poured in 32 points against Creighton.
  • As a freshman in 2021-22, he averaged 16.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game to earn All-ACC Rookie Team honors and honorable mention all-conference recognition.
  • Smith attempted more than eight 3-pointers per game in each of his college seasons. He connected on 96 triples (96-260, .369) in his first year, becoming the first freshman to lead the ACC in 3-pointers made since Duke’s JJ Redick in 2002-03.
  • Smith’s 91 3-pointers as a sophomore were the second-most in the league.
