Joel Embiid Drops Career High 59 as 76ers Beat Jazz Sunday Night

76ers Postgame Notes & Quotes:

The Philadelphia 76ers were led by Joel Embiid to a 105-98 win over the Utah Jazz, marking the team's third win in over the last four games.

Embiid scored a career-high 59 points (19-28 FG, 20-24 FT), to go with 11 rebounds, eight assists, and seven blocks in 37 minutes, becoming the first player to reach such totals in the same game since blocked shots became a statistic in 1973-74 (Stathead).

This 59-point outing now is the fifth highest scoring game in 76ers history, trailing performances by Hall of Famers Wilt Chamberlain (68, 65, 62) and Allen Iverson (60), per Stathead.

Embiid's career-high performance came the day after scoring 42 points against Atlanta on Nov. 12, giving him 101 points over the two-game span. This marks the fourth time in franchise history that a player has scored 101 points in consecutive games (Chamberlain - 115 points - 1967, Iverson - 105 points - 2004).

Embiid’s three games of at least 50 points and 10 boards are tied for the second-most in the league since 2017-18. Only James Harden (five) has more such games over that span (Stathead).

In four games played in the month of Nov., Embiid has totals of 160 points (.543 FG) and 50 rebounds in 145 minutes. No other NBA player has tallied such numbers this month (NBA.com/stats).

In the opening half, Embiid scored 24 points, giving him his 31st 20-point half since the start of the 2020-21 season. That mark is tied for the second-most in the league over that span (Stathead).

He followed this up with a 35-point (11-14 FG, 13-16 FT) second half that saw him score 26 of Philadelphia’s 27 points in the fourth quarter. This second half performance makes Embiid the 10th player in the play-by-play era to have a half of at least 35 points while shooting 75-percent-or-better from the floor (Stathead).

In the fourth quarter, Embiid posted 26 points, the most by a 76er since at least 1996-97 (Stathead).

Joining Embiid was Tyrese Maxey who added 18 points of his own, he ended the opening half with a 13-point stat line, giving him a total of 160 first half points which ranks 13th in the Association this season (NBA.com/stats).
